city of sound,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hammock Style (Audio CD)
so many bands try and make what could be deemed "futuristic" music and just slap a drum n bass rhythm or a keyboard sound on top of a conventional song. what makes ganger so special is their desire to create genuinely new MUSIC. Hammock Style sees a band completely immersed in their own sound. They are never so comfortable with the music they make that they show off though and the whole LP is the sound of a band on the edge of, and completely excited by, the sounds they have created. No other band in recent years has developed something as original and free of cliche as Ganger have here which makes Hammock Style an essential purchase.

A pleasingly mature, complex album of medative rhythms,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hammock Style (Audio CD)
Ganger's first album is an innovative blend of ambient, Brian Eno-esque guitar work/assorted sounds and lyrical melodies. While most tracks are instrumental or have words mixed at almost inaudible background levels, the effect emphasizes the integrated whole of the music. Overall, the entire album is richly layered and mellow with a very compelling complexity.

Exciting sound for those who want something different,

Just when you think you have Ganger music figured out, they change the sound, and wham, you have to rethink. This CD is quite unlike previous recordings and each track offers something vibrantly different from the previous one. The vocals are minimal yet intriguing and the musi complex--you find yourself listening again and again and picking up on new threads all the time. Great stuff from a group that makes its own trends rather than follows others, and then reworks those trends in new ways so that you never get tired of what's on offer. Check it out.
