Currently, this is the favorite cd of my eight-year-old son, and frankly, I'm glad he's listening to this rather than the teenybopper bleatings of the Backstreet Boys. The Hamsterdance Song follows in a long and venerable tradition of "novelty records" that extends all the way back to Spike Jones and other humorous ditties from the past. When I was my son's age, I just loved Charlie Drake's "My Boomerang Won't Come Back," which was equally silly and harmless.

The song samples were taken from a Roger Miller composition used in the mostly forgettable sixties Disney animated version of "Robin Hood." Some time ago, these speeded-up samples were grafted onto animated images of hampsters dancing and made available to the public as the "Hampsterdance Home Page," which then spawned various copies and imitations. Most kids and even many adults get a kick out of the dancing hampsters (with many different breeds of hampsters accurately depicted), and it's all jolly good fun.

In keeping with the brief but often-interesting tradition of electronic dance music remixes, this cd presents two different extended mixes of the Hampsterdance song, plus a "radio edit" version, which is the one that most kids will probably prefer.

Some musical purists and snobs will wail and gnash their teeth at the "shallowness" and "lack of artistic vision" of this release, but somehow I think that such would-be serious critics will be missing the point: this is harmless good fun for young kids.

The Hampsterdance Song has the elements of a fantastic single with the beat that makes you stand up and dance and the humurous voice of lead singer Hampton the Hampster. This single totally brings you away from the pressure of working for eight hours. I listen to it everytime I get home from a stressful and busy day. There should be more singles like The Hampsterdance Song with the one-of-a-kind beat.

Corny idea of a song...but its a real toe tapper. Great dance song. Just something about it thats makes you feel good.

The person who made this song must be the sickest, most vile person to ever walk the face of the earth! If you have ever heard an annoying song and gotten it stuck in your head, multiply that sensation by five billion and you have the idea. This song is insanely irritating, and at the same time the most addictive hypnotic song you will ever hear.

It is my belief that the person who invented this song wrote it with the sole intention of enslaving humanity. The first time I wandered onto ... I was literally incapable of shutting the music off for over half an hour, and its a 15 second loop! Worse yet, the first 15 minutes of this were spent laughing like an idiot!

Once I wandered into a Spencers gifts, when, to my horror, the Hamster Dance techno remix started playing. "NOOOO," I shouted, "I thought I had been rid of this song forever!" However, I was powerless to leave!!! All I could do is dance around as if I were at a hoe-down until the song was over, and immediately had to rush home to download the remix, right when I thought I had beaten my addiction.

If heroin could be turned into music, it'd be the hamster dance.

That is why I had to give this CD a 5-star rating, despite its horrifying nature. It accomplishes its goal of the total stupification of the listener quite perfectly. I ask that you join La Resistance and fight this abomination right now, for if the Hamster Dance ever hits the airwaves...

Hampster Dance Song keeps this 50 year old kid happy and dancing. Adults who are weight conscious should try doing the Dance then taking a shower ( you'll need it) A GREAT workout

I bought the Hampsterdance Cd single recently and I love it, the beat is great, it's completely silly and fun for everyone. I listen to it whenever I feel down, it puts a smile on my face. Don't think because you're getting three songs it's not good, it's still fun and trust me it's worth it.

Betta listen up foo! Mr. T gives this CD to all little childrens at the orphan home. Dats right, sucka. Them childrens really love to dance to da Hampton's singles. You betta get this CD for yo own children, foo! Otherwise Mr. T gonna have to come visit you in person.

In a strange, backwards,twisted,sick kind of way hampster dance is the most AWSOME cd ever the first time i heard it was on nickolodeon radio on the internet first i started tapping my feet then i got to bobing my head and the next thing i knew i was out of my seat dancing aroud the computer room! so i Highly reccomend you buy it it'll put a smile on your face!

I'll admit it. I'm 34yrs old & I bought this just as a gag - but this is a really good song. If you like to dance, you will find this song is infectious,(esp track 3). It's an excellent song for spin class or powerwalking. However, if you drive while playing this song, you may wind up with a speeding ticket. This is definitely a 'top down,wind in your hair, it's a great day' kind of record. You can't help but smile when you hear it.
