A light breezy read the book club loved,
This review is from: The Hamptons (Hardcover)
After reading The Hamptons I recommended it to my book club. It fit perfectly with the summer weather we're having. This light breezy read was fun and lifted me out of the funk of winter. The club as a whole was rather excited to read this book. Overall they felt that it was not too loaded down with unnecessary dialogue or an unrealistic plot, and the members loved that about this book. The locale was scenic and for us it beat Trading Up (we read that last summer). We cannot wait for the next installment from this author and although we tend to steer clear of anthologies, we're off to read Pretty Boys next month. Kudos!

wonderful breezy summer read,
This review is from: The Hamptons (Hardcover)
Following her divorce from her philandering spouse, cosmetic dentist Arnez, Joelle Sinclair quits her job as an arts events organizer although her latest work at the Whitney is a testimony to her skills. Joelle leaves Manhattan to move into the home of her sister Stephanie in the Hamptons; because of her excellent references and work history, she obtains a position at the Kenneth Oberlin Gallery.
Joelle plans the end of the season gala for the rich, famous, and influential. Meanwhile Manhattan attorney Jabari Mitchell meets and desires Joelle although she insists she is into male abstinence. However, he is persuasive and soon both agree to a summer fling as he is big city and she is determined to be Long Island. As three days of bliss go by Joelle begins to reconsider her rustification plan. She also refuses to make the same mistake she made with Arnez, who had a drug problem before their marriage that she was unaware of until after they wed. Joelle hires a private investigator to make sure that her beau is who he claims he is. Linda Dominique Grosvenor provides readers with a wonderful breezy summer read with a story line that is fast-paced and character driven predominantly by Joelle. Readers will suppose this is a summer romance that might continue into the fall and beyond until the author cleverly reveals a stunner of a twist that works well with a spin that comes from nowhere yet is believable and will shock the audience. Beach readers will appreciate this fine story with perhaps the only drawback is losing oneself in the novel so that sunburn is a threat. Harriet Klausner

Good Summer Read,
This review is from: The Hamptons (Hardcover)
If you're making your list for books to read this summer I would add The Hamptons to that list. It's a quick read and perfect for an afternoon at the beach.
From an entertainment standpoint, the book was fantastic. The setting was great and the people were beautiful. I appreciated the relationship between Joelle and Stephanie and the healing process that Joelle had to go through after her divorce was realistic. From a technical standpoint, I think the book could have been more carefully proofread. And a little more research should have been done on Pinot Grigio (it's white, not red). It's a small thing but I noticed it.

Delicious summer read,

Linda Dominique Grosvenor, a gifted wordsmith, has done it again. Never one to tell the same story twice, Grosvenor takes us on a breezy beach read complete with fun, sun, summer flings...and a twist.
Joelle Sinclair is spending the summer at her sister's home in The Hamptons. A lover of art, she immerses herself in the glamour of The Kenneth Oberlin Gallery and the beauty of The Hamptons as a balm for healing her broken heart. Newly divorced from her cheating husband Arnaz, Joelle isn't looking for love. Until Jabari Mitchell shows up and an 'innocent' dinner turns into a flirtatious affair with more curves than a country road. 'The Hamptons' disguises itself as a light summer read, a story of romance. Ms. Grosvenor cleverly shifts gears spinning us into a tale of suspense. 'The Hamptons' is full of strong characters, beautiful imagery, and a smooth-flowing storyline. Linda Dominique Grosvenor shows us that, once again (using someone else's tagline here): "She's got the gift...and she's gotta use it!".

HUMOR, SUSPENSE, TWISTS & TURNS--THE PERFECT ROMANTIC PLOT,
By Jermaine Watkins "Jermaine Watkins" (Hartford County, Connecticut) - See all my reviews

I read "The Hamptons" in one night! Joelle Sinclair's dilemma--meeting a conniving lover, Jabari Mitchell, with all the right moves--had me laughing and truly suspended to see what the outcome would be. It just goes to prove how quick and easy it can be: for one, be it woman or man, to meet someone and be willing to give his or her trust to a complete stranger, with a sordid agenda. Loved it!

Incredible Work From One of the Most Gifted Writers!,

This review is from: The Hamptons (Hardcover)
Joelle Sinclair has got it going on. She just divorced her ex- husband, Arnez, packed her bags, left New York, and moved to the upscale Hamptons thanks to an ample settlement. Her sister, Stephanie, offers her a place to stay, and now all she has to do is find a job and seek a new love interest.
She finds a dream job as a curator in the Oberlin Art Gallery, and discovers Jabari Mitchell, the dashing man of her dreams, but there is something about Jabari Mitchell that keeps readers engaged from beginning to end. In fact, readers will be shocked. It seems like The Hamptons by Linda Dominique Grosvenor is a modern upswing rendition of looking for Mr. Goodbar with a touch of Fatal Attraction, and upbeat tone of How Stella Got Her Groove Back all in one. A very fast read at only 148 pages, Linda Dominique Grosvenor delivers with lightning pacing, intriguing and memorable characters, and a precise storyline that makes the book a hip winner for years to come. It will leave today's woman to really think twice about divorcing her husband for little irksome qualities to find a new love of Mr. Right. Be careful what you wish for here. It may be your worst nightmare. As for today's man, he will definitely side with Jabari who takes matters into his own hands to stop a spoiled, ungrateful, and whining woman in her tracks, but don't quote me on that. Fellows will say, "Joelle Sinclair got just what she deserved. " You decide. It's a match-to-match face off that winds up in bandages. Ouch! The Hamptons may seem light and refreshing, but trained readers get the idea that The Hamptons is a classic and masterfully written unassuming thriller with a touch of humor. Linda Dominque, author of Pretty Boys has truly done it again and has established herself as one of the leading female novelists of the millennium. Her style is fresh, hip and on time! The Hamptons was a good book. It took awhile for me to finally get it from Amazon but I enjoyed it when it finally did come. Overall I think it was a short book, but a good quick read, which everyone seems to be saying. I really wanted to go to The Hamptons after reading this book. I hope that the author writes another book similiar to this one. It was good, very good.

Elegant summer escape,
By
This review is from: The Hamptons (Hardcover)
The Hamptons once again carries Linda Grosvenor's elegant signature true to form. Joelle Sinclair, a fine art events planner, has left her lavish lifestyle and lascivious husband for her sister's summer home in the Hamptons. When she gets there she finds a new job at the Oberlin art gallery and a new distraction-Jabari Mitchell, a partner of a prestigious local law firm. However, this distraction becomes an evocative enigma when Jabari turns out to be more than she bargained for. Will she allow herself to believe in love again or will she put herself in more danger with another man she thought she knew?
Linda does is again wowing me every time with great stories, believable characters, and incredible sister wit. Kudos. This book has so many inviting and cool things that leave me wanting more even after I've read the last lines of the novella. As a fine artists who has displayed my work in a few posh galleries, I am thrilled that someone is writing about the behind the scenes world of fine art. Kudos again. I did not give this book a five as I did with Bloom, because the ending of this novel was not as satisfying to me. I wanted Joelle to be more active in its end. With such a strong and sassy character I wanted her physical strength to come out, so I was a bit disappointed when it didn't. However, as I said before Linda is such a fantastic writer that I recommend everyone to get this book. Its short, sweet, and a tantalizing read. I felt like I was in the Hamptons myself and I love it when a book takes me to someplace I've never been.

Refreshing! Refreshing! Refreshing! I enjoyed The Hamptons by Mrs. Grosvenor. It was a quick and fast paced novel that I was able to read in one sitting. It put me in touch with the people, places and things in the Hamptons. I had to wait a month for it and I must say that she is an engaging writer so it was worth the wait. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of her work.
