3.0 out of 5 stars What no bonus chapter?!?!
Hana Kimi is my absolute favorite manga. I previously read every volume through online scanlations - scans of the manga translated from Japanese. However, there was no bonus chapter in this volume. Hana Kimi is my absolute favorite manga. I previously read every volume through online scanlations - scans of the manga translated from Japanese. However, there was no bonus chapter in this volume. I was expecting it to include the chapter after the series ended, but it didn't. I was severely disappointed with that. Either way, I'm still glad I was able to get all of the volumes in English, but many people are upset with how the series ends. I think the bonus chapter really should have been included in this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Horrid Ending, May 8, 2008
This review is from: Hana-Kimi, Vol. 23 (Paperback)
I was very upset by the ending. I have been collecting Hana-Kimi since it was first released and waited anxiously for each book to come out. The books kept getting better and better. The ending, book 23, happened to be a bomb. The pace is vigorous and all of the sudden a fairy tale occurs. Every character acts OUT of character and then another magical event at the end. It is rather random! I couldn't believe the way it ended. As others have said, the art was not up to par as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Ending is Lacking, July 23, 2009
This review is from: Hana-Kimi, Vol. 23 (Paperback)
As those before me have mentioned, the ending is lacking, ususally at the end of a series the author has me all riled up and worrying about what was going to happen to my beloved characters! Didn't get that feeling at all with this series. At one point in time this was my favorite series and I eagerly bought each volume. Then around volume 14 or so I started feeling like I was buying it out of duty. I started to blatantly lose interest around volume 16 and began questioning my dedication to the series. At that point I read the rest of the series online and saw it didn't get good again, so I stopped collecting the series and focused my money on more entertaining series.

With this series I feel like the author should have realized that sometimes less is more. Had this series ended in a different way 10 volumes ago it would probably still be one of my favorites.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just plain dull, April 13, 2008
This review is from: Hana-Kimi, Vol. 23 (Paperback)
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one disappointed with the last volume of Hana Kimi. The volume seemed very rushed, everything just sort of happened and you got no details. The art was way different, beautiful non the less, but many of the characters didn't look like themselves. And the ending in general just plain dull and disappointing, for all the wonderful volumes before (and all the money most of us spent on the series) this one was just not worth it.

2.0 out of 5 stars A very weak ending!, April 9, 2008
This review is from: Hana-Kimi, Vol. 23 (Paperback)
What a lame ending to an otherwise good series. I won't post any spoilers of the story, but I will point out that in the early pages, almost everyone is drawn so quickly (i.e., with lack of detail) that I had problems figuring out who was who. I know there's a term for this but I can't remember what it is. When the characters are drawn sort of chibi and with just a few lines to express the face. Lots and lots of this in the beginning.

Later drawings of Nanba and Nakatsu (more than the others) seemed to be drawn different from former volumes - subtly different enough that I was especially confused about Nakatsu. He looked quite different. There seemed to be a lot more art and a lot less dialogue in this issue and I felt that it was sort of hurriedly done, or, since the series was ending, the mangaka did not put too much effort into the whole thing. I was very disappointed.

On the whole I give Hana Kimi a 7 out of ten but this volume is more like a 2.
