Great for a 4 year old, and even older siblings love it!,

My 4 year old son won this from a contest at the local library. He LOVES this book. It kept him busy for hours, and wants to use it all the time. You look at the picture of a butterfly or bat or turkey and take paper and put your hand down with fingers either open or a couple closed and a few open, or two hands in a different position and trace with the crayons provided or a pencil from home. It's self explanatory. You need to help with tracing depending on the age of the child or depending on if you are using two hands for the design. Then you have the child color and then glue (we used our own but it comes with glue) the pom poms on as a nose or tail or something. There are googly eyes to glue on also. The end result is a really cool picture. My son did like 10 on the first day he had it. This is good for girls and boys. For $10, it's great. We are buying one today for a toy drive and I would buy for a gift. Once you have, you only need to purchase extra pom poms and googly eyes, or substitute with other items for tails, noses, etc. from craft store or craft supplies at home. I have three boys 14, 9, 4 and a girl 12. This is one of those things that after 14 years old having children that you find is just classic. The 9 year old loved doing this too with the 4 year old.

Great fun for many ages!,

We love this book. It has 20 different animals/aliens/bugs you can draw all from tracing your hand a certain way. The instructions are helpful and you can easily restock the supplies. All you need is some pompoms and googly eyes, though you can just draw those in if you'd prefer. My 5 year old can do these by herself and my 3 year old needs help. But I think it's fun, they do as well, and for kids who love to draw and/or do crafts, this is a great book to have!

Really Fun Craft,

My three year old and I could make these animals together all day long. It is fun for me and her. I think my older nephews and nieces would also enjoy this. It's a good buy. Get some extra eyes and pom poms and the book will last you ages.

I was looking for some books to give my 5 year old daughter that she could do on her own with her 1st grade reading level. Well, these books definitely fit the bill. She ended up not even needing to read what it said, she simply followed the pictures and both her and her 4 year old brother (working with her) were bringing me all types of creative and neat hand animals and odd creatures they came up with their own imagination, all based off of this book. They really like it, it is good independent play time for them and for me as well! And the one thing that I really liked about the book is that if you run out of supplies, they are easy to replace, all you really need is to buy a huge bag of wiggly eyes and you are all stocked up again, or just have the kids draw their own eyes on the animals. So it's really nice that it's a "craft kit" and yet still usable to make more crafts after you run out of the supplies they provide.

My 8 year-old son and I just bought this book at G. R. Doddlebugs in Danville, California. We came right home and did a couple of the drawings. "It's super fun" he says. The book gives an interesting take on how easy it really is to construct good drawings.

Adorable book with cute ideas for making animals out of hand tracings.Thick, durable, glossy pages - very colorful and fun! The attached supply case is awesome! Comes with bright crayons, little tube of glue (but I substituted the glue with sheets of "glue dots" instead for an upcoming flight), an assortment of little pom poms, and googly eyes. I cut sheets of printer paper to fit inside the book to keep the papers nice while traveling. Very excited to use it!!

Everyone knows how to make a turkey out of a hand, but what about a peacock? A horse? An octopus? I gave this book to my son when he was 3 and he's still having fun with it a year later. We even take it on playdates - just grab the book and a stack of paper and you're good to go because the rest (crayons, a tube of glue, google eyes, etc.) is included in the attached pouch. Totally awesome.

I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old for a long car trip and he loved it. All you need is paper and the kit comes with the rest--crayons, googly eyes, pom poms, and glue. I have to help him trace his hands, but then he can decorate the animal. I also think it helps with his dexterity because he has to contort his fingers into different positions to make different animals.

This is a great book for a little kid, because they can work out what to do all on their own. Every page has an illustration of the animal you can make with your hand as well as a picture of how you have to shape your hand to trace over it. Easy-peasy - and YOU can go wash your dishes.

I purchased several Chicken Socks books for my kids to keep them entertained on a long road trip, and this was one of them. Both my kids loved all the books! The books provided many hours of fun. Additionally, the "finished products" this book provided with my kids' handprints are keepsakes I will have forever!
