Nice clear coverage of waht makes a hand better or worse, especially in the context of the bidding.
Lots of examples. Fun to read too. Well suited for Beginers or Intermediates.

I like the whole idea of the the way Marty does bridge. He is so entertaining which make for a very pleasant learning enviornment. Plus, a lot of bridge player could use a dose of humor. This guy is a champion-caliber player, so anytime you can delve into one of the brains in the game, you will have a chance to improve.
In this case, this booklet is a mini version of Points Schmoints which is very informative. I have a tendancy to not want or like part of the story. I want to understand the theory, and how and/or why it applies in different playing situations. I think you would do better to buy Points Schmoints and highlight the areas you want to pay attention to or go back and reread. Besides the educational aspect, it is very humorous. As a matter of fact- I think I was this guys partner once or twice.

"Points, Schmoints" reviews and emphasizes an important theme. Correctly evaluating the distribution of your hand is just as important as assessing your honor count. Marty Bergen uses a bit of humor and lots of excellent examples to show when points count, and when they don't. He's correct. This book will make you a better bridge player.

For me, a bridge player begun at college in the 60's, it is anew and different way to evaluate hands. Sometimes, it seems like too much to relearn. A good and interesting book.

Wonderful little book,

I've enjoyed this booklet a lot. Very useful. I'll buy more books from Bergen, that's for sure. I've also read "Points Schmoints!" by the same author, a very good book in hard cover, but "Hand evaluation" is a little gem.
