robert a . trias brought okinowan shuri-rue karate to the united states ,after ww 2 .this is a rare treat for anyone who belonged to the united states karate association. a historical record of karate and it's early start and growth in the united states.

Robert Trias was the father of modern American karate, opening the first U.S. dojo in 1946. Although this book contains much information from his "Pinnacle of Karate," this book does a good job of explaining the history of karate and the basics of karate as taught by Trias. This book explains many of the principles of Okinawan style karate as taught in the United States, particularly the Shorei, Shorei-goju and Shuri styles which he founded.

I had met Master Robert Trias many years ago as a U.S.K.A. Police Self-Defense seminar and found him to be a friendly and down to earth man. At that time his karate association was the largest in the United States. His association also had a Police tactics section which I had belonged to at that time.

I found his book interesting from a historical perspective. It has also been claimed that he was the first person ever to teach karate in the U.S. This book covered vulnerable areas of the body, basic punches, strikes and kicks. This text also covered the importance of kata.

Many traditional karate experts have questioned the validity of the karate Trias was teaching; however, there is no doubt of his influence on organizing karate in the early days of the art in the United States.

This is the biggest load of BS that I have seen in a long time. No Itosu Kata, No Matsumura Kata, No Miyagi Kata yet it claims Okinawan origin. If you spend money on this I have some ocean front property in Arizona....
