This small book, written by the host of Simply Quilts on Home & Garden Television (HGTV), focuses on the technique of hand quilting. Anderson includes instructions for five wall hangings and one quilted pillow designed to build the new quilters skills without requiring a major time commitment. The author quilted each of the projects in under ten hours. Detailed color photographs of the quilters hand show each step of the quilting process clearly, for both the right- and the left-handed quilter. A good choice for even the smallest public library.

More About the Author
Alex Anderson's love affair with quiltmaking began in 1978, when she completed her Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt as part of her work toward a degree in art at San Francisco State University. Over the years, her focus has rested on understanding fabric relationships and on an intense appreciation for traditional quilting surface design and star quilts. Alex's mission is to educate, inspire, entertain, and grow today's quilting community. With this mission in mind, she has had the privilege and pleasure of ushering tens of thousands of new people into the world of quilting. For eleven years, she hosted television's premier quilt show, Simply Quilts, and she is currently the co-host and an executive producer of The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims (www.thequiltshow.com), an interactive website that features full production videos and is connecting quilters worldwide. When Alex is not traveling, she resides in Northern California with her husband and a new kitty, and daily faces the challenges of feeding various forms of wildlife in her backyard. Excellant instruction on hand quilting.,

This is probably the best book I have found that gives instruction for hand quilting. The color pictures give very explicit instruction for both right and left handed people. I would recommend this to anyone interested in hand quilting, whether a beginner or a long time quilter. Alex Anderson is one of the best teachers and supporters of quilting. She does an excellant job with her program " Simply Quilts". I would recommend all her books.

This book is the best. It's affordable and comes with color pictures that show me each step for quilting. It even has left handed and right handed instructions. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to hand-quilt.

I bought this book based on the reviews and I'm very happy with my purchase. The great photos show very specific hand positioning of different quilting techniques for both left and right handed quilters.
I'll be adding more of her books to my collection.
