Be careful "which" FAA handbook you buy. This one is reprinted by Skyhorse Publishing, who in the past has changed contents, titles, artwork, effective and release dates as they were originally published by the FAA. For example, this book is listed as new for November 2009. This book was originally released by the FAA in 2008 -- the November 2009 date reflects when this company started reprinting it and does not reflect any new or changed information from the original book the FAA Wrote. I rely on ASA for all FAA handbooks to ensure I've got the "real deal."

I love amazon--I buy just about everything imaginable on here, but this is one item a STRONGLY encourage you NOT to buy here! The edition I received was NOT in color making many of the illustrations difficult to see and understand. I found a very nice color copy in a local bookstore, but didn't purchase it--you can download the entire book free from the FAA! Don't know what's going on with the copies Amazon is selling, but find this book elsewhere if you want a hard copy, or just go download it!

The book is an excellent introduction to the basics of flying. However the kindle version is let down by the lack of effort put in to converting the tabulated text layout, especially prevalent in the chapter on Human factors that makes them completely unreadable on a kindle. Surely it wouldn't have taken too much effort to just convert most of the tables into conventional text. Looking forward to this problem being fixed. Any suggestion on who would be the best person to deal with this?

Received the book in black & white print. Kind of hard to read some of the illustrations. There is a fine line between cost and quality. This product is way to cost side of that line. Buy the color print.

The book would be GOOD if it wasn't because it has way too many errors, some "figures" are completely useless, and unless you go to their website and download the PDF (free) version with the ERRATA SHEET you would never know it... They could have done a review before printing it

The book I received was a black and white xeroxed copy with poor quality. The real book is in color.

I don't recommend this edition. This edition has black-and-white illustrations. Very hard to read, very hard to understand. Choose another edition.
