Be careful "which" FAA handbook you buy. This one is reprinted by Skyhorse Publishing, who in the past has changed contents, titles, artwork, effective and release dates as they were originally published by the FAA. For example, this book is listed as new for November 2009. This book was originally released by the FAA in 2008 -- the November 2009 date reflects when this company started reprinting it and does not reflect any new or changed information from the original book the FAA Wrote. I rely on ASA for all FAA handbooks to ensure I've got the "real deal."

I love amazon--I buy just about everything imaginable on here, but this is one item a STRONGLY encourage you NOT to buy here! The edition I received was NOT in color making many of the illustrations difficult to see and understand. I found a very nice color copy in a local bookstore, but didn't purchase it--you can download the entire book free from the FAA! Don't know what's going on with the copies Amazon is selling, but find this book elsewhere if you want a hard copy, or just go download it!

The book is an excellent introduction to the basics of flying. However the kindle version is let down by the lack of effort put in to converting the tabulated text layout, especially prevalent in the chapter on Human factors that makes them completely unreadable on a kindle. Surely it wouldn't have taken too much effort to just convert most of the tables into conventional text. Looking forward to this problem being fixed. Any suggestion on who would be the best person to deal with this?

I've been using and teaching the various iterations of the FAA's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge for more than 50 years. They are well written and superbly illustrated, and provided by several different publishers. All are in color but this one. This one, with the blue cover and (as far as I can determine) actually published by Amazon, is in black and white, thus seriously impacting its usability as a training and study aid.

Also, it took about 3 weeks to deliver. I ordered the correct books from another vendor, who delivered in less than a week.

DO NOT ORDER AND TO NOT RECOMMEND TO YOUR STUDENTS.

Received the book in black & white print. Kind of hard to read some of the illustrations. There is a fine line between cost and quality. This product is way to cost side of that line. Buy the color print.

The book would be GOOD if it wasn't because it has way too many errors, some "figures" are completely useless, and unless you go to their website and download the PDF (free) version with the ERRATA SHEET you would never know it... They could have done a review before printing it

This copy is not in color, and as such, can be quite unusable in many situations. For example, the text will often call out colors to refer to a graph line, or a legend on a diagram. So this has become my bathroom copy, and I ordered a new, full color version from Sporty's.

The book is the exact same as the FAA version which is Free on the FAA website and for the printed copy it is a lot less than this. This is a rip off.
