From the Publisher
Most consultants have a high level of expertise in a few areas of business and/or computers. But today's highly technical, very competitive consulting environment requires a breadth of knowledge few individuals possess. Increasingly complex management issues and computer technology will place even greater demands on consultants. Change management and EDD (electronic document distribution) are just two of a number of new issues and technologies that have emerged. Increasing emphasis on functional integration and enterprise computing means that consultants need to be aware of the fundamentals of such new issues. This is an indispensable guide for both CPAs and other consultants who need a competitive edge and all the practical help the Handbook contains in its 500 pages.
From the Author
This book is a successor to the Handbook of Computer Consulting (CTS, 1994). That book was one-third Business 101 (business plan, marketing, etc.), one-third running a consulting firm (controlling an engagement, etc.), and one-third technology (selecting software, developing a systems plan, etc.). Today, consultants are being asked more and more to solve business problems. This book builds on the Handbook of Computer Consulting with the addition of nearly 20 new chapters on management and technology, including Activity Based Costing (ABC), process redesign, change management, etc. With the addition of these chapters, this book is not only a good resource for consultants but becomes a valuable reference for anyone dealing with technology.
