Most administrators begin their administrative careers with expertise in language teaching, curriculum design, and materials development. They often have to learn the rest by trial and error. However, now with this one-of-a-kind handbook, you can say good-bye to the trial and error process forever! The authors explore the multiple roles that language program coordinators must play, including multicultural manager; strategic planner; decision maker; negotiator; innovator; student, faculty, and program advocate; promoter; organizer; financial planner; and writer. Each chapter offers problem-solving suggestions and activities to assist in handling the challenges faced by administrators. There’s also a final section that features language program administration issues in different instructional contexts, including adult education, binational centers, intensive English programs, international schools, and K-12 schools. This is a valuable text in courses designed to train future administrators in MA and Certification programs – plus is a ‘must-have’ in every language administrator’s library! I highly recommend it.
