This book has been constructed to meet the needs of students and workers in mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry, science, and other fields in which mathematical reasoning, processes, and computations are required. The content and manner in which mathematical subjects are taught and used are constantly undergoing changes. The applications of mathematics to many diverse fields continue to grow at an accelerated pace. These and other matters of concern have been carefully weighed by the author in preparing this edition. This text should meet the needs of both the contemporary and the more traditional users of mathematics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Useful Reference Book in My Library, October 7, 2000
This review is from: Handbook of Mathematical Tables and Formulas (Hardcover)
I recommend this mathematical reference above all others. I have used almost all the standard compilations of formulae and functions and find this one by far the most user friendly and complete.

The book is laid out in chapters corresponding to the major divisions of mathematics such as Algebra, Elementary Geometry, Differential Equations and so on. In each of these chapters is not only a listing of pertinent formulae and functions, but definitions of symbols, solving hints, illustrations and important theorems.

This book carried me through college and into my professional career. I used my first copy until it literally fell apart. My advice for anyone in a mathematical science is to get yourself a copy of this book, it will serve you long and well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have, June 2, 2010
This review is from: Handbook of Mathematical Tables and Formulas (Hardcover)
Anyone that uses real mathematics should have this book. It isn't a textbook, don't expect it to teach you anything. It's a reference. More math than most people will ever learn is tightly summarized and nicely organized in the first 60 pages.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Handbook of Mathematical Tables and Formulas (Hardcover)
Book contains all the math reference formulas an engineer would need involving Algebra, Trig, Geometry and Calculus. The only item lacking is Laplace references.
