Germany's equivalent to the Mark's Handbook, January 24, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Handbook of Mechanical Engineering (Hardcover)
Dubbel's classic handbook is a must for German engineer's. It is a handbook which is meant to be used everyday by design engineers. Loaded with useful tables and graphs, this book could serve as the only book on your desk. It treats structural mechanics and thermo-fluid design with equal weight. There are also a very good sections on manufacturing processes, material selection, and system design. Dubbel's Handbook for Mechanical Engineering stands out above all of the rest in the treatment of forming and bending. The Germans pioneered these processes and when you try to find literature on the subject, you will find yourself chasing down an old German journal article. Now there is a place to find the every day equations for bending and forming. This book can best be described as a Machinery's Handbook with thermo-fluids and all the theoretical equations. The only flaw in this gem of a book is that size of the print may be a bit small for engineers over forty. Bottom Line: Must Buy. C.Bryant, P.E.
