More About the Author

Chloe E. Bird, PhD, is a Senior Sociologist at RAND and Professor at Pardee RAND Graduate School. She is an expert on gender differences in physical and mental health and health care, and Principal Investigator of NIH funded studies on the impact of neighborhoods on physiologic dysregulation and coronary heart disease risk, morbidity, and mortality. In 1995, she won the Eliot Freidson Outstanding Publication Award from the Medical Sociology Section of the American Sociological Association for work with her graduate advisor Catherine Ross. She also serves as Associate Editor of the journal Women's Health Issues.
