5.0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC REFERENCE, July 10, 2003

This review is from: Handbook of Ocean and Underwater Engineering (Hardcover)
Despite being over 30 years old, most of the technical information in this reference is still valid. Basic physics rarely changes I suppose. It has a wealth of information on all sorts of marine engineering topics from use of concrete in salt water to metallurgy in the ocean. There is even a section on design of underwater vehicles including information about power sources, etc. That particular section is somewhat dated since advances in AUVs and the like have really taken off in the last few years. I highly recommend this book as the most complete reference of its kind (that I know of). The graphics are dated and it's black and white, but if solid information about a wealth if topics is waht you're after, this is the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really great reference, March 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Handbook of Ocean and Underwater Engineering (Hardcover)
I have found this book in a number of libraries. If you are interested in the ocean or submarines than this is the book to have. It is great book. It really is more of a compilation of other great books but it puts all the useful information right where you need it. I look for it in used book stores and auctions.
