Editorial Reviews

"Cummings has assembled an organization development dream team to provide an overview of the field, fully mature as a discipline and practice, and ever evolving beyond its origins in psychology...Complete with a name and subject index, this volume is significant in relevance and gravitas, unveiling the hard-fought wisdom of the theorists and practitioners who shaped, and are shaped, by the dynamic work of managing change in organizations. A veritable one-stop resource on the topic of organization development―its history, process, practices, and pitfalls." (G.E. Leaf CHOICE 2008-08-07)

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Yvette Borcia and Gerry Stern on March 31, 2008
Format: Hardcover
A terrific, comprehensive introduction and exploration of organization development (OD). Presents 35 contributions by leading scholars and practitioners, organized into four major sections. Part one offers a sweeping overview of the field, offering contemporary and historical perspectives. Part two focuses on the OD process including diagnosis, action research, interviewing, groups as agents of change, and assessing OD and change interventions. The third part covers four types of OD interventions: human process, techno-structural, human resource, and strategic interventions. The last part covers seven special applications of OD and an essay by the editor, "Reflections on the Field and Beyond: An Interview With Warren Bennis." The book is an exceptionally high-quality contribution to the OD field. Very highly recommended.
