4.0 out of 5 stars PLS users need this on their shelf, despite the price, March 5, 2011

This review is from: Handbook of Partial Least Squares: Concepts, Methods and Applications (Springer Handbooks of Computational Statistics) (Hardcover)
As a volume, it is not terrific. But there is a ton of stuff here, including fairly up-to-date material on many specialized aspects of PLS path modeling. That's why you need a copy. Yes, several papers in this volume don't add very much. But there are gems, like Theo Dijkstra's first chapter, and Wynne Chin's broad update on writing up PLS results. You have to have that if you have responsibility for working with this methodology. The price is ridiculous--I can't say this is a good buy. But if you want to be up-to-date in this area, you need this volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is a square a sqare, May 7, 2011

Unless there is something funny going on or an inside joke, it would have been nice for the publishers to at least see that the title is spelled correctly before the book is committed to typeface. That's what happens when you get a bunch of sqares publishing such an esoteric book. I'm still giving it a rating of five in the spirit of the recently departed Jon Swift (the blogger historical figure, not the several hundred year old historical figure). I haven't actually read the book, but in the spirit of Republicanism and low budgets for copy editing, I give this book a five.
