4.0 out of 5 stars A nurnsing student's time saver, January 24, 2001

When writing care plans for nursing clinicals, this book is a real time saver. You can quickly find information on virtually every major condition in simple, straight forward terms. If a particualar disease or illness has special implications or maniffestations for a specific population, like geriatric or puberty, special consideration is given. At the end of each chapter a bibliography lists other sources which could be used for additional research. The book is broken down into 21 chapters each dealing with a specific system or function of the body. Each chapter then gives a basic overview of the system followed by the different pathophysiological concepts which apply to that system, followed by conditions of the disease or injury. This structure makes review of a particular disease or injury simple and straight forward. An excellent index combined with great information makes this a great resource for brushing up on pathophysiology as well as writing out nursing care plans for clinicals.

Excellent prep and supplement text for patho class. This text was recommended to me by a past grad and I use it during notes review and while READING.
Do yourself a favor and get this. It seems to be the quick resource for patho, manifestation, and rec treatment and evaluation.
Good luck,
Kitt

5.0 out of 5 stars Pathophysiology book is really good, November 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is assigned for a class, but it is really helpful for providing informative reviews of the different body systems and it touches on the common pathological disorders that occur within each system. For example, within the endocrine system section, this book succinctly describes the processes involved in pathological disease states such as hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus, among several other conditions. The authors have a way of being concise in their descriptions and explanations, which is nice because there's hardly any fluff to weed through as with some textbooks, but they still manage to deliver solid key information regarding pathophysiology. This book is great for reviewing path, and its also a nice reference book to have handy.
