5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding resource, May 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Handbook of Pediatric Orthopedics (The Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Handbook Series) (Paperback)
this book is an outstanding resource and a must have textbook for all orthopedists and pediatricians alike. Paul Sponseller (aka "Sponnie") has done it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pocket must have for those working in pediatrics, March 13, 2011
I attended nursing school before the days of PDAs and smartphones. At that time I found myself constantly referring back to certain materials. I began copying these tid bits of information and posted them into a day planner type book which I kept handy at all times. In it, I saved pearls of information such as drug calculations, rhythm strip examples, landmarks, physical assessment tests and so forth. Sponseller's book is very similar.

The Handbook of Pediatric Orthopedics is a 258 page must have. It's size makes it perfect for carrying in your lab coat pocket. There are chapters on normal child development, disorders of skeletal growth, orthopedic syndromes in pediatrics, neuromuscular disorders, and even trauma. Chapter 6 includes tons of information on lab values and medications. The remaining chapter deals with common procedures such as traction, blocks, needle aspiration and casting. The book contains tons of photos, charts, diagrams and other quick to read/review items. The healthy index is sure to direct you to exactly what you need at a moments notice.

I highly recommend this text for anyone working with pediatrics regardless of practice area. Those in orthopedics should immediately purchase this text and keep it handy. I have found myself referring to this text on a regular basis and think you will too.
