This review is from: Handbook of Research on Electronic Collaboration and Organizational Synergy (Hardcover)
Technology has transformed the way and the speed with which we connect and interact. It requires different competencies, both technical and social, to fully exploit the opportunities and benefits technology can enable. Exploring and experimenting with collaborative uses of technology, and sharing the results, has often been a grassroots activity, with knowledge shared in an ad hoc, "here's what we tried, here's what we learned" sort of way. The Handbook of Research on Electronic Collaboration and Organizational Synergy brings together theory, research, and analysis that establishes a baseline for scholarship and practice in leveraging technology for collaboration.

The Handbook is two volumes that focus on organizational collaboration in three arenas: education, business, and government and social sectors. Research and uses in education encompass an entire volume, with the other two areas represented in the second volume. Chapters are written by a global community of experts--which reflects the myriad uses and applications of technology for collaboration--and follow a similar format, with sections such as background and context, discussion, methodology, future directions and trends, and key terms. E-collabortion and organizational synergies are considered within such contexts as sociology, cognition, public policy, leadership, information technology, and more, and meet a variety of needs in this title, whether the reader is looking for a comprehensive treatment of the topic, practical applications, or research and discussion to use in strategic planning activities. Faculty and students across many disciplines may find readings appropriate for courses or inspiration for conducting their own research on collaboration.

The Handbook of Research on Electronic Collaboration and Organizational Synergy is a solid resource for any academic library collection, especially those providing access to online resources.
