This review is from: The Handbook of Research Synthesis (Hardcover)
For anyone interested in doing research synthesis, meta-analysis, or even a literature review, this is a "must have" in your collection. Various researchers present quite helpful information to save time, sweat, and tears in the process

5.0 out of 5 stars An encyclopedia of meta-analysis, March 18, 2002
This review is from: The Handbook of Research Synthesis (Hardcover)
This book is the best overall work on meta-analysis and research synthesis that has appeared in the past decade. All of its chapters are clearly written, and the data sets that are provided to illustrate the various techniques are extremely helpful. A lot of work went into the development of this book, and it shows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful to meta-analysts and experimenters, January 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Handbook of Research Synthesis (Hardcover)
I bought this book because it is the text Dr. Hedges use to teach meta-analysis at the graduate level. My own research is experimental and I have yet to conduct a meta-analysis, but aspects of the volume are quite useful for thinking about how to report experiments so that they can be included in others' meta-analyses. For conducting your own research synthesis - either as part of a literature review or as a research project onto itself, this is (as the other reviewers have described) a great how-to manual that touches on a range of substantive areas and breaks down the synthesis process into understandable (and achievable) steps, with the right amount of caution about the difficulty of actually executing an effective meta-analysis.
