1.0 out of 5 stars Handbook of Winning Bridge, July 19, 2008
Buying and reading this book would be a total waste of you money and time.
What little is correct in the book, such as the mechanics of the game, can be found in any beginners book or at your library.

The prominent world champion of bridge and prolific writer of bridge books, Mike Lawrence, recently wrote: "When you learn something the right way, it is like taking three steps forwards. If you learn something the wrong way, it is like taking one step forward and two steps backwards."

Reading this book would be like taking three steps backwards at the start.

Mr.Silberstang seeems to be an expert on gambling games such as craps and this book of his about bridge is crap.It is a superficial introduction to bridge with a mish-mash of mostly old and a few newer ideas and methods, and would not help anybody to learn modern bridge and much less to become a proficent player at any level.

The publisher Cardoza seems to excell at publishing useless books. Another sad example is "The Basics of Winning Bridge" by M.Coe.It has been reviewed at Amazone and found to be a piece of junk, and parts of it are identical to what you can read in Silberstang's book.

Worse yet is the book "Winning Lotto/Lottery for Everyday Players" by Prof. Jones, a professional gambler. This book is based on false ond fake numbers intended to make you believe it is possible to predict randomness and thereby win money. Mr. Jones is a fraud, and the policy of Cardoza is 'Caveat emptor" or the sucker be aware. In short, Cardoza is a garbage peddler, but as we know, there is money to be made from garbage. How sad.
