4.0 out of 5 stars A good basic handbuilding book.
This book has several very good alternative handbuilding techniques that I've found useful over the years. It is easy to understand, and is illustrated just enough to give you a good sense of what is possible using each individual technique. This book is an excellent resource for the beginner ready to move beyond the beginning.

1.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Judge a Book By It's Cover.
Unfortunately the best thing about this book is the lovely cover.
In this case definately don't judge the book by it's cover.
The whole of the inside is black and white (and the photos are not even very good quality). I'm sure the infomation is OK, but quite frankly it looks so uninspiring I don't really feel like reading it to find out.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the Adventurous Potter, November 14, 2010

I like this book, but it will not be for everyone. The big plus point is the techniques are shown step by step in photos and the process explained. You will need to know some basics to follow along as some of the descriptions are vague and assume you have knowledge of the craft.
The photos are not great, but workable. Warning: For many of the projects listed, you would need a large studio and space to recreate these types of work. Much of the art may be considered abstract, but if you look at it as a guide, it can still be helpful for those wanting to make more conventional hand built ceramics

Guess I'm just disappointed as I was expecting a lovely colourful, inspiring book and this is just a text book type. I would not have bought it if I had looked inside it.
There are many other much better books out there.
