5.0 out of 5 stars Should be known as a right handed keyboard
As a right handed person, my wife and I have owned a "left handed" keyboard by Ergoguys for about 5 years...first when only the wireless version was available, and later this wired version. I have enjoyed these keyboards so much that I would never own another right handed keyboard again, and preferably one by Ergoguys. Being able to center the keyboard in front of the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Left handed Keyboard for a right handed
I have a mixed feeling on this product.

I liked the concept a lot -- put 10 key to left side to give more space for a mouse.
I am recently experiencing shoulder pain, I believe because a regular keyboard is difficult to be positioned at the center of display.
I searched though Amazon and found this keyboard. I thought this is perfect to solve my...

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be known as a right handed keyboard, March 2, 2010

This review is from: Left Handed Keyboard Wired Black By Ergoguys (Personal Computers)
Being able to center the keyboard in front of the monitor without placing the mouse far to the right is a much more comfortable and natural position for a right handed person using a mouse. This leads me to believe that the definitions for right handed and left handed keyboards should be reversed.

I have shopped for other brands of left handed keyboards and found that most run nearly $100. I could be wrong, but cannot imagine any keyboard worth that amount. On the other hand, the Ergoguys have put the same quality in this left handed keyboard as any of the right handed keyboards that I have owned over the last 30 years. Initially, I was a little skeptical of the Ergoguys' keyboard because the qwerty keys were shaped different; however these keys are in the same location as a convention keyboard, yet their shape helps guides the fingers during touch typing. Consequently it took little time for me to get used to the shape of the keys. Since I did not need any of the wireless features, I much prefer the wired version. When I purchased my wired version, it was only offered with a PS2 connection. This was really not a problem for me...it came with a PS2 to USB adapter, which works fine if you do not plan to use the special function keys along the top edge of the keyboard. But if the adapter is not included, as some have complained, it is an expensive purchase. However, this keyboard now comes with a USB connection, and the special function keys along the top edge work with this USB version.

As of this writing, Amazon is advertising the keyboard as with a PS2 connection, while Antonline advertised theirs as a USB connection...so I recently ordered a replacement for my wife's wireless keyboard from Antonline, thinking at least they guaranteed an adapter. However, the keyboard didn't need one...it was a true USB connected keyboard. A visit to the Ergoguys' website no longer shows the white keyboard with a PS2 connection to be available, and now shows only a black keyboard with a USB connection. Both the black and white keyboards have the same model number, so color may be the only clue as to which keyboard you are likely to receive.

Since writing this, I have confirmed with Ergoguys that the black model is the USB model, and that Amazon's supplier currently only offers the USB model, so the PS/2 connection shown on Amazon is not correct...the model number is also shown as KBS-29BLK, which is correct and is the model number of the USB keyboard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect keyboard for the right-handed user, December 21, 2008

I am right handed and this is the perfect keyboard. The ten key and standard arrow keys just make for further over to reach the mouse and causes shoulder and neck problems over the years. This keyboard has made my life much better when on the computer. I even bought two for my computers at work.

It would be nice if they'd upgrade it with USB. This would be five stars if it was USB.

Update (2/1/2011) : Still love this keyboard, it is the perfect keyboard for a right-hander. Inline with the need for it to be USB, be aware that if you use a PS/2 to USB adapter they can be flaky. I started having to unplug and replug the keyboard as it would quit working. It wasn't the keyboard, the adapter had gone bad.

2.0 out of 5 stars Left handed Keyboard for a right handed, July 25, 2011

I have a mixed feeling on this product.

I liked the concept a lot -- put 10 key to left side to give more space for a mouse.

I am recently experiencing shoulder pain, I believe because a regular keyboard is difficult to be positioned at the center of display.

I searched though Amazon and found this keyboard. I thought this is perfect to solve my problem.

I used this keyboard and I liked a lot, however I must have returned.

The quality of keyboard was poor. After used a few strokes, I noticed the "Shift key" on the left size cannot be depressed when pushed the near side of "Z" key. I almost hurt my little finger.

At that time, I was wondering whether I should return until I found another key "F2" sunk and did not came back.

Thanks to Amazon, return process was easy.

But I really did not want to return this and still looking for a same type of keyboard.

I think all keyboard manufacturers must produce this layout to prevent PC injury.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent keyboard, June 28, 2010

I am right handed, but I was tired of having the number pad between my hand and the mouse, so after much searching online for a keyboard without the number pad I eventually found this keyboard and bought it. It's fantastic, what a relief to finally be able to use my mouse in a comfortable position after 15 years of computer use!

The slanted keys are also very nice, I worried that they'd be difficult to type on but they actually make it slightly more comfortable for me to type.

My only complaint with the keyboard is that it has extra space on the bottom and on the top for the extra buttons and I'd like to to be more compact, but that is something you can see in the product pictures and know about before you buy it. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine, feels good, no trouble adjusting to layout, May 21, 2010

I was a little concerned when I looked at the picture about the slightly A-shaped keys. These turned out to be no problem at all.

Everything works fine and I'm now much more productive. I'm right-handed, but by having the keypad on the left I can use things like Page-Up, Page-Down, Enter, Del without taking my right hand off the mouse.

Tried to cancel this order before I received it but was too late. Had changed my mind and wanted to upgrade to another of better quality. Glad it worked out this way (at 1st blush). There was no setup required. Plug & play.

My machine is programed with Ubuntu 11-10 (open source). I am right handed but this setup allows most all the controls on the original to be switched to the left side. Also I changed the Caps Lock to be used as a left sided Backspace button. Like the "A" arrangement of the keys. That improved the comfort level. Thank you for the previous candid comments guys & gals. All weighed in the balance, I consider this a good purchase.

Many of the keys stick and do not pop back up during typing. I was very disappointed in the keyboard.

Pluses:Love the keyboard; my typing speed/accuracy has significantly increased. Good tactile response. Like the USB connection.

Minuses: There is no online help for the 'media' keys. A4 doesn't respond to email requests for assistance. The mute and volume keys are useless. Back to conrolling the media from the desktop.

5.0 out of 5 stars lefty keyboard, January 30, 2010

This product is great, being a left hander in a right hand world, it took a little getting used to the layout or should I say reprogram my brain. The A shaped format for the rows of keys is much more natural and there is less fatigue in my wrists and hands, and the ten key pad on the left is wonderful.
