5.0 out of 5 stars PLAYS ON STANDARD CD PLAYERS, WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE, September 15, 2009
By
This review is from: Handel: Acis und Galatea (Version by Mendelssohn Bartholdy) (Audio CD)
SACD disks come in at least two types. This is a hybrid disk that plays stereo perfectly on my standard CD players. If you want to access the high def stereo or multichannel tracks then you will need a SACD player.

Sound in conventional stereo is excellent, even better, this disk has a great cast. Julia Kleiter is a superb soprano, giving her best performance yet. The bass, Wolf Matthias Friedrich is new to me. I have never heard better coloratura from a bass.

Note that this performance is a German version by Mendelssohn. Anyone expecting English may be annoyed by this, but it works far better than I thought it would. I may get an English version and compare them in a future full review.
