A beautifully played (on a restored organ Handel himself played!) and recorded album of sumptuous baroque. Certainly the best performances of Handel's organ concertos I've heard. The organ creates a nicely percussive counterweight to the sweetness of the period instruments - this is the baroque recording that will put paid to any notions of baroque as saccharine. And the bonus Harp concerto is blissful. Highly recommended.

I know I know... The price... But you'll be hard-pressed to find a recording approaching this execution by Goodman and Co. In the hands of others, these works feel laborious and less inspiring.
If you want to enjoy Handel's Organ, enjoy it well with this recording. |
