This 2 CD set is a great buy. For me Messiah must have a harpsichord, Baroque orchestration, expressive soloists (including a real deep bass), and a chorus that you can understand the words. This recording has all of this and more. The soprano, tenor and alto are also excellent. The orchestration is great and the recording is crisp. The balance between voices and orchestra is well done. I can't believe the quality of this set for such a low price. I am throughly enjoying listening to it (and singing along).This would make a fine gift.

This item is on a different label and features the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra!
