5.0 out of 5 stars Seemingly out of nowhere..., February 19, 2002
By Shawn H (Pittsburgh, Pa.) - See all my reviews
Ebony Tears comes storming down like a violent hurricane on a small tropical island. Technically sound, hammering and just plain loud, "A Handful Of Nothing" has a handful of big hairy ones. Music filled with that intense energy bands of this ilk of death/thrash are known for. Raspy, angry vocals belt out tunes of doom and gloom. Pretty good production values for what looks like an obscure recording. Wish I knew more about them. But what I know, is that they shred eardrums like Enron shreds documents and economic dreams (OUCH!). Smoking guns include "When Depression Speaks" and "Harvester Of Pain", which reminds me of another infamous, headbanging metal classic, "Angel..." of something or other, with that modern Swedish death thing coming full circle to kick your teeth in. Pretty much for fans of The Haunted, In Flames, and that type of sound. A big noise is being made, and its time to take notice. Thunderous!
