Handful of Stars, 2010's newest album from ukraine black metal band Drudkh, the question is, is this one as mindblowing as "Microcosmos" or "Blood in our Wells?" Well your answer is no, whilst it isnt as good as the latter mentioned albums, its still very good and deserves a listen. What makes Handful of Stars different from Drudkh's other albums is its better production quality, the sad, almost nightlike feel, and most importantly the vocals(the usual complaint.) As always Drudkh change it up from previous albums. Handful of Stars takes the brutality of Microcosmos way down (only one song containing blast beats) and each song starts off with a similar manner. Now on to the complaints of the album. The drums on this album are very hard to hear at times, which becomes horridly monotinous and annoying. Next are the vocals, well I wouldn't really complain about them, but they are most certainly different from Microcosmos and Estrangement, liking them will just have to be a manner of personal tastes. All in all, Handful of Stars is still an excellent album for what it is and I personally recommend checking it out.
