First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Charles Stanley and his publisher for sending me a copy of "Handle With Prayer" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

"Handle With Prayer" is a superb prayer resource. This book by Charles Stanley is not only a 13-session study on prayer with an amazing leader guide. It is not just a non-fiction book that will teach you some helpful tips about how to pray. It is a compilation of chapters that address 13 different aspects of prayer. With subjects ranging from prayer life assessment to who should we pray for to how to pray God's will, this volume should be in the reference library of every praying man, woman and child. "Handle With Prayer" takes you back to the Bible to learn about prayer.

I confidently recommend this book to any Christian who wants to invigorate their own prayer life. I believe that it would be valuable to any group or personal study venue. "Handle With Prayer" is one book that I am proud to own and will read and refer to over-and-over again. It is also a book that I will suggest to others for years to come.

This is a very good book on prayer. This book reads as if Dr. Stanley is not preaching at the reader on prayer, but personally took the time to write this book. There is so much information in this book and far too much to articulate in a review so I will just highlight a few good quotes. On page 28, Dr. Stanley says that it is on our knees that the greatest good is done, and on our knees that we will face our greatest assaults. In chapter 3, the focus is in prayer in fasting. I admit that I have not done much fasting in my life and my hope is that this book will help aide in this area. On page 46, Dr. Stanley challenges the reader to spend a day alone with God fasting and praying. I have personally spent a few hours alone with God away from cell phones, the Internet, and other distractions and really enjoyed myself. The final chapter speaks of spiritual warfare in prayer. Humanism is addressed on page 139 and what a problematic issue this philosophy is in our postmodern day. So much self-help material, and books are out there that are humanistic based. Charles Stanley challenges the reader to get to the Bible and the Lord in his/her prayers. The Lord is the sufficiency and He is more than enough to meet the needs of the Christian. Other contents of the chapter address sin strongholds and how to overcome them and how strong they can be so often in the life of the Christian believer. Well done book, highly recommend!

Are you wanting to get deeper into the word of prayer and learn to unwrap God's strength and power by praying. As I was searching for a picture of the cover , I noticed that in February 1992 when I was five years old , Charles Stanley wrote a book called Handle With Prayer - reading this one and the blurb of the previous , I figured that this new edition must be an updated and more up with the play as the one written those many moons ago. For me, personally I find Prayer quite a challenge as I can pray for myself silently for protection , pray to keep others safe and those other everyday prayers like "Dear Lord, please find us a carpark" when you enter the shopping mall and its so busy. However, Prayer is actually something much deeper than that , it is something that Jesus used and there have been other accounts by everyday people to make miracles happen , people raise from the dead , others have sickness healed that may never have been healed. Prayer is essential to us all as Christians and believers, as without prayer we do not have the connection we require from God.
