This review is from: The Handless Maiden: Moriscos and the Politics of Religion in Early Modern Spain (Jews, Christians, and Muslims from the Ancient to the Modern World) (Paperback)
Mary Elizabeth Perry concentrates on the Morisco experience in Granada. From her book it is possible to conclude that the unwritten history is far more dangerous than the written. Since the Moriscos did not write their own history and their writings are few and far between, we are left to examine the entire group on the writings we do have. Those that did keep records were largely trying to save their Muslim heritage. With those records, Perry keeps to the idea that the Moriscos in Granada were secret Muslims.
