3.0 out of 5 stars A nostalgic look at handloading 75 years ago, November 16, 1999
This review is from: Handloading Ammunition: A Handbook Covering All Phases of the Loading of Metallic Ammunition for Revolvers, Pistols and Rifles (Hardcover)
This book is very interesting as it covers all aspects of handloading at time when the golden age of hunting and shooting was at its peak. Some of America's greatest gun writers, hunters, and "characters" were making their mark at this time. Handloading has enjoyed a tremendous growth in this field and today we have this pioneer's to thank. JR Mattern was one of them. He was the first "Phil Sharpe" and was very instrumental in introducing the American Public to the art of Handloading. He was not the first but with his plain easy to understand writing and overall knowledge of his craft American shooters become proficient handloaders themselves and in doing so led the way for American industry to further develop the products that we use today. This book is extremely well written and even though it is outdated, the insight this book provides is well worth the price. This book belongs in any serious handloaders library.
