5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift or fun project guide!
I've loved Hello Lucky's cards for a long time, so when this book came out I was excited to steal some of their ideas to pass off as my own! It didn't disappoint. Even the book itself is a treat -- the binding is really easy to manage, and the templates in back are really helpful. I consider myself very low-level crafty skills-wise, but the descriptions and how-to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Handmade Hellos
The book contains average cards to make and the publisher omitted key templates in the back of the book.
I had to contact publisher and they emailed the templates to me.

I'm thrilled with this book and can't wait to send off some of these incredibly cute cards. My only complaint is that so many of the projects require a Gocco.

Even the book itself is a treat -- the binding is really easy to manage, and the templates in back are really helpful. I consider myself very low-level crafty skills-wise, but the descriptions and how-to really describes everything very clearly. This is a great gift for crafty friends, or a fun way to pass the afternoon and make unique and special invitations or cards on the cheap!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great detail & new inspirations, February 22, 2010

I love this book! Step by step instructions and included templates make it so easy to use. Many of the cards do call for special tools or equipment, but with a little imagination and creativity can be altered to use whatever you have available. The ideas are just a great jumping-off point for making your own cards. Also, each one has several variations to increase your options. Why get store-bought cards when you have a resource like this!?

There are two templates missing from the first printing of this book but the publisher is aware and has posted the templates on its website at the following link: (...) I contacted them directly because I wasn't sure how to get them and they said any further reprints will be sure to include the templates.

very cute ideas and step by step instructions. templates are included...but I took off one star because it did not include the template for the owl card--the project I loved the nost. the instructions say to follow the owl template...but I searched and searched and could not find it. I even went as far as to exchange it for a new book--still no owl template. so sad. very cute and inspiring though.

I got this book so I could get some good idea's on how to make cards and things for my family and friends. It was beyond what I expected and really enjoy the cute and easy how to projects. I used to be a nanny and this book would have been a great resource back then. A definite good buy!

Very happy with this purchase! I like how each project is labeled as basic, moderate, or advanced. The only problems I have with it is:

1. Two of the templates were missing. When I checked a copy in a bookstore, those same templates were missing. Two of the card "recipes" require these templates, but they were not included with the other templates. Is this a mass mistake that affected all copies printed?

2. Some of the projects required very expensive materials and devices that the average person would not own, like for instance, a 200$ screen printer.

If you are a beginning card artist and have not invested in a great deal of expensive supplies, I would not recommend this book. However, you can improvise on some of the projects and use the cute designs as ideas and inspiration. Some of the projects do have some simpler variations printed at the end of the "recipe".

Overall I am still happy with this book. I absolutely LOVE the designs and will use them as inspiration for my own cards!

This is a very fun and cute book. I think it provides many great ideas that can get you started on making your own cards. I've changed some of the designs and even created some of my own designs to match the occassion it's for. Very cute and love how they provide the templates!

4.0 out of 5 stars Step by Step to the Perfect Card, October 30, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Handmade Hellos: Fresh Greeting Card Projects from First-Rate Crafters (Paperback)
This is great for ideas on handmaking cards. I love the idea of something so simple handmade, but the authors have a step by step guide to how to make all kinds of cards. The templates are even included! It has all the sketchings, diagrams, and measurements for the perfect card. The best part about it is, when you have your card, you can't believe you actually made something so beautiful!!

I give it four stars only because it take time to do the cards, and frankly, I am lazy.
