I've been a Marilyn Scott fan for more than a decade. Subsequently, I have all of the songs on this CD, EXCEPT for her splendid rendition of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" and the magnificent, never-before-released (as far as I can tell) "Understanding Love."

That said this new collection sounds fantastic. I love having many of my favorite Marilyn tunes on one disc that I can play in the car, my home and even on my portable CD player (yes, I still use one of those). I highly recommend this CD to all longtime Marilyn Scott fans and to those "newbies" out there looking for a great place to start with this magnificent jazz/pop vocalist.

HANDPICKED is Ms. Scott's ninth CD release to date... And handpicked it is. Sixteen tracks in all, carefully selected from Marilyn's favorite songs from throughout her career. She conferred with music retailers across the country to collaborate with the community that supports her music to determine which key songs from various releases be made available on one CD. HANDPICKED includes "The Look Of Love," Top 10 Radio hits, "The Last Day," "I'm Calling You," as well as two previously unreleased in the U.S. songs, Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes," and "Understanding Love." Both are killer and we believe will find their way on to Smooth Jazz radio playlists around the U.S. A confident smoothness, and air of sensuality accompanies each and every Marilyn Scott tune uniquely, including these dynamic new tracks on HANDPICKED. This beautifully packaged release runs over 75 minutes in length and promises to fill the air with skillfully produced, silky, jazzy pop that will enhance any environment. Marilyn is excited about presenting this selection of songs, but she is not resting upon the work that reaped such a lovely bounty. In fact, she's in the studio as we speak, working on a brand new project with George Duke, Patrice Rushen, Renato Neto among others. Look for the new release on Prana sometime in early 2006. This is a wish come true. Some of the very finest performances (not that you could ever really place one above another) compiled into a single CD. The song selection was done by Marilyn herself, and provides the explanation behind the title. These are all of my favorite tracks, and I've kept it in my car CD player non-stop since I got it. Anyone riding with me who reads the liners will always remark "I never knew Marilyn had so many CDs out". You simply can't beat her incomparable vocal stylings and the brilliant instrumental arrangements. I'm hoping that this review and turning my passengers on to her one at a time will change her status from one of America's best kept musical secrets and place her rightfully among America's most treasured performers. Now if we could only see her more live in concert!

Marilyn is talented, she can even scat some. but unfortunately I don't feel she is good enough to keep me entertained for the length of a CD, I have been listening to her as I write this to be fair.
Entertainers work to hard to be panned unfairly. I am sorry but she is a pop singer trying to do jazz.

This is a great CD that I truly enjoyed purchasing. The delivery time was great also.No problems and no complaints. I was able to listen to the tracks before purchasing, thanks to Amazon, and it was a great choice. This was a new artist to me that I had not heard about beforehand, and I owe that to Amazon as well. Thank you.

Marilyn Scott has the voice of an Angel. I just love her smooth, bluzie style. I have purchased all her CD's since first buying this one. ALL of them are awesome!

One of my most cherished possessions is my subsciption to JAZZIZ magazine, I have read it for over twenty years. Each issue comes with a cd, and it has exposed me to many artists, including Marilyn Scott. She is one of the many many artists whose talents don't fit neatly into a format or category; I have never heard her music on the radio and if not for JAZZIZ may never have heard of her. That said, if you are reading my words, add this to your cart immediately. Unlike many "Best Of" or "Greatest Hits" cd's, this one flows from start to finish as seamlessly as if it were all recorded at the same session. The songwriting, the production (by George Duke and others), the musicianship, everything about this disc is first class all the way, and Ms. Scott has a way with lyrics, whether she is singing originals or interpreting classics. You will LOVE this cd!!

This is my fourth Marilyn Scott album but definitely not my last. I am officially hooked! I can listen to this album from start to finish and it just never gets old. She does not disappoint!

This is an absolute great record. Not only for the jazz lover but for the one who simply loves great music. This album features 16 songs that are simply the best. Marilyn is always consistent and always delivers great music. My favorite would have to be Get Home. I love the groove, love the horn lines in the beginning, and Marilyn's voice is stunning as always!
