My wife and I recently had twins in April. We ordered two of these and now have the finished product hanging in the nursery above the children's cribs; each has a photo of the day we brought them home from the hospital.

The product arrived as advertised, the packaging and the instructions were clear and simple. The few tips I would note are these:

1. When rolling out the clay, it is best to get it smooth. The first time I did this the clay was a little on the dry side and when I rolled it out it had a lot of texture to it which took away (a little) from the final product. I added a little water (as the instructions suggest) after I had rolled out the remaining clay and then smoothed out the surface. This left a smooth surface for impressions that had a superior look and feel.

2. If you are getting the impressions from an infant - GET HELP! Have one person hold the baby and the other maneuver the hand or foot into the clay. You can do this on your own but it is very challenging. I tried this out by myself and it turned out OK, when I did the second set my wife assisted and the impressions were much better as each of us was concentrating on only one thing.

3. The clay shrinks a little bit when drying so make sure you roll it all the way out. If you're not comfortable with the amount of movement in the clay, a little Elmers glue goes a long way to create a secure fit.

A great keepsake and a wonderful gift.

I bought the "Clay Handprint & Footprint Keepsake Photo Wall Frame - Black" a few months back for my older sister for mother's day. I didn't consider it a gift from me, but more of a gift from her 8 month old daughter. Even though my niece was a little squirmy with the clay, it was very easy to re-roll, and the clay had no odor to it at all. It was especially easy to clean off her hands and feet. Thank you so much for this product!

I was excited to receive our frame yesterday, however once I took it out of the box there are scratches or chip like scratches on the black part.

Contacted seller, fast response, they are sending out a replacement.

Will be totally satisfied as long as this new one coming has no flaws!

I should have listened to the negative reviews. My husband and I made our daughter's hand and foot print last night. It didn't look great, but it was good enough. We left it sitting to dry (directions say 1-4 days)...we look this morning and there's a crack going all the way across the foot print. There is nothing we can do to fix this. It's completely ruined and will be thrown away. (The product was not moved or touched - left in the same spot we made it so it would not be "disturbed".)

Also, rolling out the clay is almost impossible. The "rolling pin" (aka wood dowel) is not the same width as the frame, and will leave a continuous crease. We ended up measuring the area and cutting the same area out of the box, using that piece to "even out" the clay. Again, it wasn't smooth or perfect, and we don't expect perfection with a baby...but we do expect a good product, and this definitely is NOT a good product at all.

I hope this review will keep at least one person from wasting their money.

We bought this to commemorate my baby's first Christmas. The clay became smooth and easily pliable in my hands after a quick kneading and adding a drop or two of water. The smoother you get it when kneading, the better it looks once rolled out in the frame. Using my fingers, the tiny rolling pin (included), and the bottom of a glass, I was able to distribute it evenly within the frame. I did one side first, created the imprint pressing quite firmly on my baby's hand, then rolled out the other side for baby's foot. If using this to take a newborn's imprints you may want to make sure your clay is even more smooth and moist to avoid having to press down so much on baby's hand and foot.

The clay works nicely but the middle section where the photo is supposed to go is kind of cheap. Rather than glass protecting the photo, there's a thin sheet of plastic. Also, it's supposed to fit a 4 x 6 photo but the frame is slightly larger on all sides so you'll see a little bit of black around the photo you place there. Finally, I'm hesitant to hang it up because I'm not altogether sure how the dried clay stays in place. It would be a shame if the clay fell out and shattered while the frame was hanging up.

We used this for our son and daughter when they were babies as well as our dog. Each side is big enough for 2 baby feet or hands which is great. The picture frame is covered by plastic but it looks fine. The third time we ordered it, when we opened up the clay it smelled horrible and was covered in mold, which was very disturbing, but we figure it still deserves 4 stars because they replaced it right away and we love how all our pictures/prints turned out.
