2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
These stories were very disjointed. I found it difficult to follow the logic these women were using in living life on their 'own' terms. It seemed to me that they were just running from their past lives in a take no enemies way. I also think another turn off was all the girl on girl sex, which I never really had thought of, but I guess, I just didn't see how it fit in,...

Lexi

A construction safety supervisor by day, Alex or Lexi as she prefers after hours, has had to deal with narrow-mindedness, especially from men, her entire career. Never mixing business with pleasure, she keeps her private life separate from her job. So what if she desires job foreman Wade Wilkins? He is completely off limits to Lexi because of their working together. That doesn't stop her from wanting him with every ounce of her being and when he happens to watch her in her favorite bar dancing, she can't help but act upon her desires. It's just one night, right?

Lanie

Lanie owns and runs her own automotive shop. Having a rough week which culminated in sacking two mechanics, she is at her favorite bar looking to alleviate some stress as well as hoping that Jeff, her brother's friend whom she met the previous week shows up as planned. When he does, Lanie knows then and there that it is only a matter of time before he succumbs to her charms. So what if she is blue collar and he isn't? It doesn't matter in the dark, and rebel that Lanie is, she sets out to rock this blue-blooded man's world.

Carlotta

Blessed with the ability to wire anything that needs wiring, electrician Carlotta usually goes for the wild boys. Geeks and quiet men aren't her usual type. That changes in an instant when she runs into a computer nerd unlike anything she has ever experienced before. Just when she thought her life was figured out, incognito bad boy Devon Fry is just the man to show her that she doesn't always have to be the one in control.

Talk about wild women! Lexi, Lanie, and Carlotta would give the Desperate Housewives a run for their money. Each woman is at ease with her own sexual needs and doesn't mind going after what she wants. Experimentation is just a word to these three naughty nymphs and the men in their lives have no idea what hits them. I really enjoyed how each novella in the anthology was separate but tied in with the other two stories.

Amie Stuart has given new meaning to the words, `Independent woman' and I am certain that Hands On will be a big hit. While some readers may not like some of the homoerotic aspects, I found the writing of Amie Stuart sensual and realistic. Hands On will leave you panting for more from this talented writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOTT!!HOTT!!HOTT!! This is a MUST read!, July 17, 2007
This review is from: Hands On (Paperback)
If you're looking for a hot steamy read, this is IT!! Three girlfriends, Lexi, Lanie, and Carlotta, live in a mans world by day, but when the sun goes down, are ultra feminine, super sexual women!

I loved the premise of the story, that it was really "three-in-one", and written in first person. This one is destined for my keeper shelf!

I also recommend Built coming this month and Sex on Holiday--anthologies featuring Amie Stuart!

4.0 out of 5 stars three torrid novellas, June 16, 2007
This review is from: Hands On (Paperback)
"Lexi". In Houston thirty-four year old Lexi "Alex" Kimball works construction as an assistant job supervisor and safety supervisor. On weekends she enjoys clubbing with her friends. However, the new foreman Wade Watkins has been occupying her mind lately with thoughts of him occupying her body. He wants to meet her desires, but she rejects his advances as co-mingling leads to unemployment.

"Lanie". Bi-sexual auto mechanic Lanie runs and owns Chick's Garage. When she meets and is attracted to white collar Jeff, she initially rejects him because her estranged family introduced him to her. Jeff persists as he thinks his white collar and her blue collar match quite well together.

"Carlotta". Electrician Carlotta gets a charge out of clubbing on weekends with her pals. When she meets computer geek Devon she writes him off because she figures she would be the dominant one when she prefers being submissively girly off the job. However, when she meets Devon again at night, he has changed from Clark Kent to Super-dude. Now if he can gain her trust, they will have a loving relationship that will last much longer than the agreed upon two week trial.

These three torrid novellas star female friends who work in predominently male jobs and the men who want them. Although the tales are somewhat interrelated, they stand alone with each focusing on a different type of sexual relationship. Erotic romance readers who prefer variety in their palate will appreciate Amie Stuart's HANDS ON.

Amie Stuart takes you into the lives of three hard working woman trying to make it in typically male-dominated industries. The first person viewpoint is a brilliant choice as it feels like you're hearing the story from a girl friend. Some of the sex scenes are edgy for a romance, but they are tastefully done and beautifully written. I'm looking forward to reading more from Amie Stuart.

What a great way to bring a story line to life. The intersecting story lines add just enough flavor and an ingenious twist to contemporary erotic romance.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, June 25, 2007

These stories were very disjointed. I found it difficult to follow the logic these women were using in living life on their 'own' terms. It seemed to me that they were just running from their past lives in a take no enemies way. I also think another turn off was all the girl on girl sex, which I never really had thought of, but I guess, I just didn't see how it fit in, with them being on the prowl for any and all available guys. It was almost like a taping of Girls Gone Wild or a MTV spring break Cancun style, with Sex in the City through the weekly brunch meetings on who scored with who and who got the best lay of the week. Which, I know this is fiction, but wouldn't you be worried about sexually transmitted diseases? If they are sleeping with one man a week, that could be a potential 52 guys in a year. I would think, no matter how hot they are, after awhile they would be known as the easy tramps. I guess, I was thinking this book was going to be something different.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money, July 12, 2007
This review is from: Hands On (Paperback)
What a complete waste. It was like reading a journal someone had written. The author tells the story by having the main character tell it (example: I did this, I did that) I am not a big fan of stories that are written that way. Plus there is no story line, nothing that grabs you to keep you interested. I hardly got through the first story and threw the book out. Being a serious reader (I read a book a day) I would have to says this book was one of the worst. I had another book of hers on my wishlist which I have since removed.
