I will start this by saying that overall I am very pleased with this system. However this review could have been quite different had a bad situation not had a happy ending a few weeks ago. My dog does not pull at all, so when we run, she runs at a steady pace at heal or slightly behind me. We were jogging along a route (in a major city) when I realized she wasn't by my side. Because she's always at heel or slightly behind me, I didn't even realize that she wasn't there until I looked back for her. I turned around in horror to see an empty block. Her leash was gone, as was the carabiner that comes with the Cardio Canine system for leash attaching.
My mind raced and I ran to another couple of runners I passed just 20 seconds earlier across the street to say, "Did you see my dog?" They said, "What dog?" I ran back two blocks and found her sitting at a park, terrified. (She's not the most confident pooch - we're working on it.) Thankfully she just planted in the same spot she was disconnected at and I was able to get to her. (Had she been a different dog, this may not have ended this way.) Her collar/leash and the carabiner attachment were connected. The scary thing is, as far as I can tell, she didn't stop or jerk the leash in anyway that would put enough force to cause the system to fail. I did not realize anything was amiss enough to look back at her. Normally if she needs to stop to "go" she'll just put a little tension on the leash and we'll take a break. I didn't even feel that. (At the time this happened I had been using this belt for three months - it was not old.) Since then, I continue to use the belt, BUT I simply do a slip knot to attach her leash. It's far safer. The actual way you secure the belt to yourself is a little tricky at first, but now I can do it with my eyes closed. (And on early morning runs they sometimes practically are!) Had this ended differently, this would be an entirely different review. Still, I love this system. I noticed after I ordered it that my pace increased dramatically simply because I wasn't running lop-sided with a leash in one hand. The only thing that's frustrating me at the moment is that I wish there was an extra water bottle holder. When running, I'm carrying water for two - me and my dog, and one bottle to share isn't always enough when its 85 degrees out and we're on a 7 mile run. :) Also, the pocket is great for storing energy gels and poo-bags, but it doesn't fit a phone! All runners should carry a phone, especially on long or secluded runs. Just a few tweaks could make this system great. And they NEED to do away with the carabiner attachment - this could have heartbreaking outcomes for other dog owners. Do not risk it.

Great solution for running with a dog that pulls,
This review is from: Hands Free Dog Leash - Small 25-34" Waist (Misc.)
I got this because I have a Siberian Husky, and she likes to pull as hard as possible when we run. Even in a no-pull harness, she would pull enough to ruin my rhythm and alter my gait with a regular leash. This harness absorbs all of the energy of the initial yank, and makes it pleasant to run with her in front of me. The bottle holder and pouch are handy for keys and baggies.

Best hands free leash out there!,

This review is from: Hands Free Dog Leash - Small 25-34" Waist (Misc.)
I have been looking for a hands free dog leash FOREVER. I have bought and returned just about every contraption out there - this one is by far the most well designed, heavy duty, well made piece of equipment out there. Hands down.I run every day with my two large male German Shepherds, their combined weight far exceeds my own, so it was really important that I got a product strong enough to handle the strain of being attached to both my boys, while also being safe for both me and them. Pros: - Heavy duty hardware, strong enough to stand up to daily use (hikes and 4 mile runs) by two 80 lb German Shepherds. - Comfortable! The belt is padded and soft, and I never feel like I am going to be cut in half when the dogs are pulling, even if a bunny is spotted. I can even wear this with just a sports bra. I don't get any chaffing or feel anything scratchy. I ordered the small and it fits perfectly. (I have a 27" waist) - Versatile; You can turn the belt to the side if you prefer (my dogs are large and long, so having them run in front of me can be a little tricky at times, so I turn the clips to my left side which is where they like to run). Also, there seems to be plenty of places to clip my iPod shuffle, stash pooh bags, treats, and a house key. - Attractive; You kind of look like you're about to scale down the side of a cliff, but I like it - it's cool, looks well made, not cheap. - Well made, sturdy construction; I feel like this will last a while and I am not worried about anything breaking or snapping off while I run. - I love the leash component! It easily and quickly unhitches and can be used as a handheld leash if you want. Cons: - I, like other reviewers, cut off the water bottle attachment. It's too small of a bottle to be of any use for me, and I found it a little annoying. So I cut off the whole thing and you'd never know it was ever there. - It is a little heavy: but I actually dont mind that at all. Burn more calories, and it is not uncomfortable or bulky in any way. I'm only mentioning it because you'll notice when you first put it on, because it is much more substantial than other similar products out there. - I had to buy the second dog attachment and it's a little pricey, but well worth it. Overall I'd give this a 10 out of 10. Great product. Worth the expense to feel safe and run with ease!
