The Hands of Love opens with a powerful descriptor of Det Lorenzo Love. "A man like Ren, with lots of power and little self control can be very dangerous, and you're getting ready to see just how dangerous." The author does show us these qualities and more. Det. Lorenzo Love better known as Ren has always been able to charm with words. Midway through the book he finds himself in a situation he might not recover from. Several women in the Dallas area are found with their hands cut off, throats slashed and poetic messages left in their shoes.

As the police officers try to solve the case Ren is preoccupied with other things; an investigation led by Internal Affairs; the death of a drug killer and a friend's secret that could ruin many lives and a host of characters with an axe to grind.

The Hands of Loveis a thriller that delivers quick dialogue and razor sharp action. The author doesn't waste time with minor details he gets right to the point. Mr. Scott's detail of the Dallas police department mechanics' makes this a believable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The descriptions of the murder scenes had my heart pounding..., May 31, 2010
By
This review is from: The Hands of Love (Paperback)
Det. Lorenzo Love, leader of the narcotics unit called Ghost Squad, has gotten cocky in his personal and professional life, which leads him down a path of no return. He feels he is invincible, but not by his own fault. His squad follows his directives without questions, and his wife, Nina Love, doesn't have a clue, at least that's what I thought. Nina was a floormat and appeared to be weak and spineless, or was it merely an act?

Scott delivered a capitivating tale of murder, sex, and corruption. The descriptions of the murder scenes had my heart pounding; I was grabbing my body parts as if I was the one being sliced. The words came alive... The characters were so real... The cliffhangers left me reeling. I just knew who the murderer was from the hints and clues but I was so far off. The unveiling of the murderer was apropos, I could not believe it. Assume nothing.

The book was great! I couldn't put it down, nice ready. However the delivery time was too slow. I ordered the book 3 weeks before my book club meeting and it took 9 days not including weekends before I got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Off da chain Good!, January 29, 2010
By
This review is from: The Hands of Love (Paperback)
Dude your book, "The Hands of Love" is off da chain Good! It had me from page 1. That's not often. It could really be a movie, seriously. Excellent, can't wait for your next novel! I am a New Fan! It's nice not to have wasted a few hours of my day. I hope you are furiously writing your next book. Smile! I'm glad I just found it, instead of reading it when it first came out, because that would mean I would have so long to wait! LOL!
The book I read didn't have any typos that someone spoke about, that must've been earlier version, before typos were caught and corrections were made. The book kept moving along, even when having to set up the characters and story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Guilty Your Honor!, October 12, 2009

The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hands of Love (Paperback)
Lorenzo Love, a police detective, is working on a case that looks very much like serial killings. Women are found with their throats cut, their shoes on the wrong feet and a message inside one of the shoes. His section of the police department, the Ghost Squad, is charged with finding the killer. Ren, as he's called, is not necessarily an upright detective. The Ghost Squad has been known to do some shady things and Internal Affairs is looking into their latest bust of a drug dealer. Did things really happen the way the Squad said they did? Or were they hiding something? In the Squad's search for the serial killer, they begin to show interest in a detective from Internal Affairs. Ren has been having an affair with the detective's wife. Has he found out and is that why he is harassing them? Is he the serial killer? As the killings continue, pressure is put upon the entire police department. Women are afraid to go out after dark, especially alone. Will Lorenzo Love's Ghost Squad find the real killer?

THE HANDS OF LOVE by Omar Scott makes most of the main characters look guilty and it is impossible to guess who the real killer is. The story really holds your interest as the killings go on and there is a lot of tension when Internal Affairs begins digging into the Ghost Squad's behavior.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprising Ending, September 3, 2009
This review is from: The Hands of Love (Paperback)
Lorenzo "Ren"Love was a typical detective , he was streetwise and ruthless, he knew how to wiggle himself out of situations, he was so just an awesome charater. The ending was the most unpreditable ending I could not beleive how it ended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mind Boggling, August 16, 2009
This review is from: The Hands of Love (Paperback)
Lorenzo Love aka Ren is a thirty-something detective with the Dallas PD and has been for at least twenty years. He is part of an elite team of officers who serve and protect with unorthodox methods that bring criminals to justice. Ren has a lot on his plate: work, family life with a gorgeous wife and son, ongoing visits with his lover. What more could he ask for? He definitely is having his cake and eating it too.

Suddenly, everything seems to spiral out of control and Ren is caught in the middle. A string of murders are being committed and guess who the police department has their eyes on as being the culprit? Ren and his crew are under the microscope about their tactics, and the affair with the mistress is unraveling. His life is falling to pieces and he is not going down without a fight. Will Ren be able to ease his way out of this sticky situation?

"The Hand of Love" was off the chain! Mr. Scott gives us mystery, murder and mayhem as well as a "Who-Dun-It" all rolled into one. This book is a must read, and I've been telling all my friends about it. The writing was great, the characters were exceptionally good and the twist at the end was unbelievable. There are some editing issues, but it didn't take away from the story. "The Hands of Love" is phenomenal and I will be reading more of his work.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Suspenseful Thiller, June 14, 2009
This review is from: The Hands of Love (Paperback)
Lorenzo "Ren" Love leads a group of dirty cops of an elite narcotics unit. Ren and his fellow brothers in blue have taken money under the table from dangerous drug dealers for years. This has become very lucrative for this crew over the years. But all of that may come to an end when Ren and his unit come under an internal affairs investigation involving a recent shooting of a notorious drug dealer. To make matters worse, there is a string of young ladies being murdered and all of the evidence points to Ren. Will Ren be able to get out of all of this unscathed?

The Hands of Love is a fast paced thriller by Omar Scott. Scott leads reader into the world of dirty cops, serial murders and infidelity. Ren is an arrogant man who believes he is above the law and he is a character that you love to hate. Scott does a good job of crafting a well thought out mystery that will have you wondering who was the killer of these women. There is also a shocking twist to this story that you won't see coming. This book has a good storyline, but the editing issues make some parts of the book a little choppy. The Hands of Love is still a good suspenseful story by Omar Scott.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, January 8, 2009

The Coldest Winter Ever
This was a great book. It's kind of a cross between the movie Training Day and the Usual Suspects. It had be hooked from the very begining. Some books are long and drawn out, and take forever to get to the point. But this book nails the mysterious plot right from the start. I don't want to say too much and ruin the story, but the characters were so intriuging, and I would've never guessed how this story was going to end. I finished it the first day!
