5.0 out of 5 stars What they don't tell you.....
I've had the opportunity to try out a number of these recipes. I've made Charleston Chicken Pecan Salad, Nutty Pumpkin Lasagna, Texas Chile Meatloaf, Broiled Margharita Chicken, Pork Roast with Apple Chutney, Jambalaya, Fruit Crisp, and others, and not one of them took more than fifteen minutes to put together! It's great that you can sit back and let a delicious dinner...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea -- Bad Recipes
As a mother of three with a full-time job, I love the idea of this cookbook. Unfortunately, the recipes I've made tasted pretty lousy. I got this book last week and made two of its meals this week (Gardener's Pie, Spanish Omelette). Both were pretty close to inedible -- bad enough that we just tossed the meal and cooked a frozen pizza. The cookbook The Six O'Clock...

It's great that you can sit back and let a delicious dinner take care of itself, but the best part is that it goes together so quickly, thanks to the use of pre-cut, pre-skinned, pre-chopped and otherwise prepared recipe items. The hands-on part is as easy as the hands-off part!

We have a new baby and my husband has been cooking for us. He has made many recipes from this cookbook, and they all have been amazing. Just to name a couple, the pan-seared salmon with lemonade sauce and the chicken with raisins and almonds were great. Each recipe has been very easy for him. I am looking forward to the next meal he makes from this cookbook!

This cookbook is filled with recipes that are so simple to prepare. I really like the variety of recipes that can be served for many different occasions. Two of my favorites are the Nutty Pumpikin Lasagne and Country Captain Chicken (I made this for a book club dinner and it got rave reviews!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this cookbook!, March 23, 2007
This review is from: Hands-Off Cooking: Low-Supervision, High-Flavor Meals for Busy People (Paperback)
This cookbook is going to be used often! With two little kids at home, I like having an arsenal of tasty recipes on hand that are a cinch to make. One thing that's particularly nice about this cookbook is the variety of flavors. My family enjoys a lot of ethnic foods and they're in here.

The Pork Roast w/ chutney recipe is great. I can't believe I haven't seen this method elsewhere. It's so easy and such a simple way to make chutney. The Charleston chicken salad was a hit at the baby shower, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite cookbook this year!, July 19, 2007
This review is from: Hands-Off Cooking: Low-Supervision, High-Flavor Meals for Busy People (Paperback)
This cookbook is great for cooks at any skill level. The recipes are approachable, yet far from standard "quick-meal" fare. Lots of influences, including Thai, Indian and North African lend the recipes tons of flavor. Even though the author offers plenty of ideas to make the dishes even more convenient (buying a cooked chicken or diced onions, for example) the recipes often call for ingredients I usually have on hand, eliminating special trips to the grocery store. Whereas some of my cookbooks sit on my shelf gathering dust, this one is already dog-eared and food stained!

I have made a good number of the recipes in this new cookbook. They all seem easy to make and then they turn out so delicious. The Vegetarian Chili has become a regular at our house. Last night I made Fish Vercruz; it was scrumptious!!! so I decided I had to spread the word about this great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adding Variety to my Routine, May 6, 2007
This review is from: Hands-Off Cooking: Low-Supervision, High-Flavor Meals for Busy People (Paperback)
I tend to work to much and get in a food rut, repeating the same meals until I can't stand it. I just tried my fourth recipe from this book, another success - the lamb meatloaf, and it continues to prove to have been an excellent purchase.

I buy the ingredients the night before I actually try the recipe. If I try to buy the same day then I get home too late to make the recipe. I like that the recipes seem to be just what the title promises - hands off. I do the prep and then some laundry or gardening - then dinner.

We have dozens of cook books and this book by Ann is by far the best and most useful one we have ever purchased. Every recipe in this book is absolutely delicious and the best part is they are all very easy and fast to prepare and cook which makes this a very valuable book. I highly recommend this cook book for every kind of cook out there, whether you are a novice or a gourmet chef, you will find many very good recipes in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Book for Busy People Who Love Good Food, May 11, 2007

Every recipe I have tried so far has resulted in a truly superior meal...and true to the book's mission, prep is easy and not labor-intensive.

If you are extremely busy but value a great meal at home, you need to buy Hands-Off Cooking. I have already picked up copies for a couple of friends.

It's the best cookbook I have read/used in a long, long time.
