The Handspring Visor Stylus Rainbow Pack is the stylus that should have come with the Handspring Visor Deluxe.

It comes in five colours to fit any Visor of any colour.

The advantage these styli have over the standard stock stylus that comes with the Visor is that they are made of metal and have a nice heft to it when you write.

The coolest thing about the Rainbow styli is that they all have a reset pin integrated into the stylus body (something glaringly missing in the stock stylus. Just unscrew the writing tip and there it is. This is about the most important part of the stylus and will save you when your Visor hangs on you.

A surprise is that when you unscrew the other end of the stylus, you get a very nice Philips screwdriver that can be used to open your Visor, if necessary. I found that the screwdriver also works really well for tightening the screws on my glasses! :)

When I bought my Visor, I also decided to buy the stylus rainbow pack. The main reason was that I thought it would be looking cool to have a different color of stylus based on the mood of the day. My Visor's color (ice) is rather neutral, so all of the 5 colors would probably add that little extra.

Another reason of course was to always have a spare stylus (or more) in case of losing one.

In practice, I found out that I do not change them at all. I picked my favorite color (blue) and use it all the time. All the other ones are somewhere in a box. I am not going to carry around a spare stylus in case I need it.

In general, I advise not to buy the rainbow pack right away when you buy your visor, which already has a stylus included of course. Realise that when you buy the rainbow pack, you have a total of 6, of which one color is double.

Wait a while and see if you would like to have another color and/or some spare ones. The fact that there are 5 in the pack and all in different colors may seem not ideal. Probably you want to have just one extra stylus and only in the color of your choice. But on the other hand, it may be nice to buy a pack together with some friends or colleagues. You could exchange them once in a while (as long as they don't chew on them like they chew their pens!)

I didn't even have my Handspring Visor for a week before I lost my stylus. I didn't want to pay the shipping fee from Handspring's Website .... Then I found out that Amazon sold Handspring stuff. I would much rather pay the Amazon shipping fee ... than I would the Handspring fee.

I also like the colors. I was expecting to get a yellow stylus in the pack, but in the place of the yellow one, there was an orange one, which is great because my Visor is Orange!

Also, the reset button that unscrews from the tip and the mini philips screwdriver that unscrews from the top of the stylus are wonderful (no more hunting for a paper clip!).

I highly recommend this product if you need extra styli and are scared off by Handspring's high shipping cost.

One thing that's great about the Visor is that it's easy to get accessories for it. I have a Blue Visor Deluxe that comes with an Ice pen (why not a blue pen to match?). One day, I had misplaced my Ice pen, so of course I had to replace it. I ended up buying the Handspring Visor Stylus Rainbow Pack. It had the Ice pen which I had lost, and also has blue, green, orange and graphite. I now use the blue pen to match my Visor, which doesn't look like the colors match 100%. The Ice pen is now my back up. I also have one pen by my computer at work, one pen by my computer at home and the other pen in my shirt pocket.

This is a great product! I had originally been using that plastic stick that usually comes with the basic Visor, even though I bought a Platnium. This was because I bought the display Platnium in a retail store (the only one in stock at the time, and I was desperate), but it didn't have a stylus. I didn't know about the difference between regular Visors and Deluxe/Platnium/Prism ones, so the employee just had me grab one off of the non working display basic Visor. I didn't like that one, of course, but I figured everyone had one like that. After a few Platnium accessory hunts, I discovered this 5-pack. I picked one up in a retail store on clearance, for a little cheaper. It's a great stylus:

*Well-weighted for writing

*Metal body is sturdy and heavy, so I won't drop it and lose it

*The tip unscrews to reveal a reset pin. No more paperclips taped to the springboard cover!

*The back end unscrew to reveal a screwdriver. If you're adventous and want to open your Visor(voiding the warrenty) you can with it, but it also works on glasses!

*Well priced, and good for when you drop it in the elevator, train, subway....

Overall, It is a great color assortment for Deluxes, and the graphite one matches lots of visors, and the cover,some modules, etc. See if you can find it a bit cheaper at a retail store that has them on clearance, like how I got one.

I ended up ordering this pack after I lost my stylus. I was in panic mode and using the edge of my fingernail until the pkg. arrived. I would have preferred to have a pack already available as a back-up.

I ended up finding the lost stylus, but about 2 months after I bought the replacement pack. They are the same quality as the stylus that ships w/ the Handspring... nicely weighted w/ both a reset pin (in the tip) and a metal screwdriver (hidden in the top part).

My only criticism of these stylii by Handspring is the material they use for the points... and I mean the sold plastic points, not just the trendy see-through plastic... they're all the same.

Palm Pilot's stylii (in my experience) never scratch the screen. The Handspring stylii have a tendency to pick up the most minute bit of debris (dandruf, dust particle, whatever) and allows you to carve a scratch in the surface of the screen that will make you scream in agony. I don't mean a faint "normal use" scratch... I mean the kind you find on your car when someone keys it. I now have 3 such horrendous scratches on my screen. In 2 years of using a Palm Pilot, the screen still looks almost new. Maybe it's the material used for the Handspring screen, not the stylus... but there is a definite difference in the feel of the point of the Handspring stylii vs. the Palm version.

I still prefer my Handspring to the Palm, especially due to the springboard slot, but this is a definite manufacturer bug, not a feature.

Nevertheless, these are nice stylii and if you're like me and occasionally get home to find that you've left your stylus on your desk at work, it's nice to know you've got a back-up at home.

The standard stylus included with the Handspring Visor is a rather uncomfortable, unassuming stick of plastic without a bit of real substance to it. It's functional, but not much else.

My main reason for picking up these styli was because of a few times I worked on the Visor at my desk at home, forgot to return it to its slot, and had nothing to use the next day at work. With this, you have enough to leave a spare stylus in several places. In addition, the metal shaft gives a much more substantive feel and weight to the stylus. You've also got the convenience of handy access to the reset button and a small phillips-head screwdriver. Plus, a bevy of colors to suit your every mood (if, for some odd reason, you want your stylus to indicate your mood). A great buy all-around.

Incidentally, I have yet to forget to return the stylus to its slot since I purchased these!

I love the Handspring stylus. I think it's wonderfully designed, from the sturdy metal shaft, to the properly firm tip, to the textured handle. Even better, it conceals a reset pin (in the tip), which is far superior to scrounging for a paperclip to deform, and a screwdriver (in the textured handle) for tweaking the Visor's case.

But now that Handspring has opened Pandora's box of colors, it would be wonderful if they'd let us choose our colors of styli. The multicolored ones were ideal for choosing a color for friends' Visors, but I really don't want to use some of them with mine. The best solution I've come up with, other than trading with friends, is auctioning the spare colors.

This replacement package of styli were really worth purchasing. I lost my original stylus after a few months, and realized that I needed to keep spare ones all around...at work, at home and even in the car! The new styli are much more pleasant to use with my Visor since they are a bit heavier and easier to write with. Not to mention all the cool colors that come in the package! I've had my Visor for about 5 months now, and I keep everything in it - what a great investment!

They look nice, fit the slot perfectly, have a screwdriver and a reset pin... perfect except that the plastic tip seems to be harder than other stylii. Admittedly, I press pretty hard when I write -- but these are the first stylii I've used that leave visible, permanent scratches on the screen! If you write with significant pressure, avoid these or risk damaging your Visor.
