Book is not as big as it appears,

Okay, the content of the book is great, but I'm not sure it is worth the $40 retail price tag. I'm very glad it is discounted here on Amazon, or I might feel rather upset about the book.
First off, the book is about the size of a trade paperback and only has 63 pages. Do NOT expect a big book for your money here. Now, to the 'good stuff' There are great techniques and inspiration in the book, so it is definitely worth having, but I would not suggest paying full price for it, unless you've got the money to be throwing around.

Funky and fun inspiration for the handspinner,
By BK (Newport Beach, CA) - See all my reviews

This book is unlike any other handspinning book that I have found. It helps bring out the creative side in the handspinner with many funky and fun ideas, spinning "outside the box". I found this book to be very inspirational and informative with great pictures and good descriptions on how to replicate the styles of yarn shown in it. I highly recommend this book to the handspinner who wants to create truely unique yarns.

must read for handspinners,
By Rachel "craftykitty24" (Spokane,wa) - See all my reviews

I am relativley new to hand spinning with my wheel.I got my first wheel(Lendrum DT) back in early october after spinning on a drop spindle for about 5 months.Dont let the size of this book fool you.It may be small but it is PACKED FULL of great spinning technique and tutorials. This is a great book. The difference between this and "Intertwined"(I own and love both),is that Handspun Rev. is more of a written tutorial on how to achieve novelty yarn.that in itself makes this book priceless to me.whereas "Intertwined" is more of a gallery of yarns, there is still some tutorials in intertwined but this book really explains how to achieve what you see in the second book.I have seen some outrageous prices for this from private sellers online.Yes,the book is out of print,However you can still purchase it directly from lexi Boeger's website pluckyfluff.com.
It sells for regular retail there for [...]or, one price i saw, was 130.00.IT is out of print but there are still some in stock.how many there are i dont know so i woulnt wait too long.If there werent any left i would think of paying more for it but thats because i love her style and the way she teaches so for me its more of a collection.I do think if you spin handspun yarns you should own her 2 books.Even after you learn technique you will go back just to flip thru and look at the pieces in the book.Another one i would suggest which isnt one of these books is 'color in spinning".that will help you make the awesome yarns that lexi teaches you to produce.Handspun Revolution and Intertwined are a must own for and fiber artist.i couldnt even imagine spinning without having at least seen what other styles are out there.Lexi teaches us that fiber doesnt have to follow any "rules"that you can spin tin cans if you want. The only thing stoppping you from breaking the box is the confines of your imagination.Make sure you learn the basics of spinnig first. You can't break the box if you dont know where it is.

Don't Worry...Be Happy,
This review is from: Handspun Revolution (Hardcover)
This book is about being creative - trying new things. You MUST have at least average spinning skills to accomplish these techniques. This book is not for spinning "snobs". You will need to think creatively and for yourself to use this book - as some of the techniques are not written out clearly. I enjoy looking at the different pictures of techniques/yarns the author has developed. I was a little surprised at first at the size of the book for the price I paid. I would expect for almost $30 to have a little bit more. Overall, a good book for thinking outside the box and enjoying the process along the way.

This book has wonderful insperation and ideas. If you want something more structured look for something else. Boeger makes the reader use their own creativity and knowlage.

Pretty but tiny and not very instructive,
By
This review is from: Handspun Revolution (Hardcover)
This book has beautiful pictures and would be great for someone who is already a very proficient spinner and is just looking for interesting ideas. But for an almost $40 price tag, I expect a lot more detailed instructions, including pictures of each step, rather than just the finished piece. The introduction seems to be geared to beginners, but it contains no basic spinning instructions and very little explanation of the author's techniques. The book itself is very small, making some of the text difficult to read. Spinning books are difficult to review, as it's the sort of very visual and tactile art that really needs to be a video or in-person class, but if you're interested in art yarns, get this one from the library. Don't bother buying new.

A pricey book for a little information. Lovely color pictures, but many of the yarns do appear structurally sound.
