Insufficient product information,

After you get the product the packaging states that it is only good for soft, padded dashboards and should not be used on hard, plastic dashboards. This should be listed in the product description above.
Also, the packaging indicates that you may end up with a darker spot on your dashboard under this pad as the rest of the dashboard is gradually bleached by the sun. Something to think about... Other than that, it works pretty well. Things stick to it and don't slide horizontally, but can easily be taken off by hand with no residual stickiness left on the item.

For anyone wondering, this product is *not* sticky -- there is no adhesive used (top or bottom). If I remember correctly, it works based on research into the means by which geckos can climb vertical glass surfaces (super tiny filaments which cling to small crevasses). I got one as an impulse buy at Office Max the other day, applied it to my dash, tossed my cell phone up there, and it never budged. I purposefully tried to take sharp corners and go over bumps faster than normal, but the phone never budged.
I even put the pad on a portion of my dash that's pretty curvy (not flat), put the phone right at the apex of a curve, on an incline, so that there was only a tiny bit of the phone's surface in contact with the pad. It still held on just fine. It would even rock back and forth a little based on my acceleration around turns, but it never slipped. Tried some other items on the pad, too, like loose change and slips of paper. Worked fine. I probably wouldn't try it with a cup of coffee, but for most other items, it should do the job it's supposed to do. I was so impressed that I went back today and got 3 more to share with family members.

There is a warning that on some cars, the backing (part that sticks to the dashboard) might discolor/mar when removed.
