5.0 out of 5 stars Simply The Best
As a professional handwriting analyst for over twenty years I have amassed over six-hundred books and monographs on graphology. Let me say, if the house were burning down this is the one book I'd want to save. There are plenty of good books on handwriting analysis but this still stand the test of time as simply the best. This book is a must have for every handwriting...

3.0 out of 5 stars A kids book
When I got this book I was quite disappointed. The reason for this was that the book briefly went over the content. Yeah sure you can get some basic understanding of what is going on with handwriting, but i think you would need another resource to get you to any real good level.

If you want to be like a palm reader, like a gimmick get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent reference/learning for pros and beginners, August 17, 2000

I'm a novice handwriting analyst and find this book to be the best. This is the most user friendly, informative book out there! There are a few different opinions on handwriting analysis, but from my experience and observation this book is right on! Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book, December 29, 2006

This is the best book that I have seen about this subject. I have inherited about 500 old family letters and I thought I might get some more insight into the writer's personalities if I studied their handwriting. This book was a big help. The author explained how the handwriting was influenced by the character of the person and the results I got was generally consistent with the information I had gleaned from the content of the letters and family history. There were a few surprises though and I gained some important insight into a couple of the family members that I wouldn't have otherwise. I highly recommend this book as it was better than the other books I consulted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, August 23, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Its a pretty old book, published in 1980, but its contents are still relevant in today's context. I also purchased Michelle Dresbold's "Sex, Lies & Handwriting" and borrowed from my local library "Handwriting Analysis: How to make it work for you" by Andrea McNichol.

On comparison of the three, Miss Dresbold's book is more like an introduction that really gets your interest in the subject, but her outstanding analysis of Jack the Ripper really got me interested in the subject (one that the other 2 books do not provide)! Miss Dresbold also highlights more lucidly the characteristics of certain dangerous traits that exists in the handwriting of people, which might provide clues to a dangerous person.

Miss McNichol's book is more like a step by step process of guiding the reader into handwriting analysis; like a school syllabus, which makes for great reading for a first timer, and in fact one would be quite adept at Handwriting Analysis once finished.

This book, by Miss Amend and Miss Ruiz... I would describe it as similar to a manual, with the greatest detail and least "introduction paragraphs" and contains the most amount of sample signatures by famous people. However, it does not highlight to the reader what stuff to look out for in people; the book draws equality to all handwriting characteristics with little embellishments.

On a personal note, with so much SMS and email going on today, handwriting is probably quite underestimated and overlooked as a tool. Also, I'm not sure if handwriting analysis can apply to cultures that also has other written forms of language, which might 'interrupt' any rules of handwriting analysis as depicted in all three books. These cultures include the Chinese (Chinese Characters focuses on strokes), Indian (particularly rounded handwriting), Thai... etc.

Still, all three books are definitely one to keep!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book, August 8, 2005
Whether you want to study handwriting analysis out of curiosity, or to impress your friends, this book provides an amazing insight in that abstract science. I analyzed my girlfriend's cursive writing using the tips it provides and she was quite impressed with the results.

5.0 out of 5 stars It really works (75-85% of the time), December 26, 2008

I've had this book for 2 years - and still read it over.
Graphology takes time and experience just to get the hang of it. But once you 'Get it' - it's a blinking riot!

*Warning - do not give your opinions to those with 'Personality Disorders' (Narcissists, Borderlines, etc). These types will immediately 'Hate' you, and exact revenge (Trust me here!)

Best bet is to study personality disorders while studying graphology. You'll be amazed at how the disordered really think, and how quickly you can spot their Handwriting and many other subtle clues.

I wholly recommend this book and "Malignant Self Love: Narcissism Revisited" by Sam Vaknin. You will not regret either purchase. Have Fun!

Karen Amend's book on handwriting analysis is the one I use all the time. I am a hobbyist graphologist and have shelves of handwriting books. This is the one I always turn to first and recommend the most. I have put indexes on the pages so I can find stuff fast. It's just the best and easiest to use, and I nearly always find what I'm looking for in it. Get this one and you won't need any others!
