Since this is his second book, he sits down and does it on his own most days.

My five-year-old is just over halfway through this workbook now. In kindergarten his writing was very slow and all over the place. This book has helped him distinguish between tall letters, short letters, and those that drop below the line. His printing is more readable and faster with about 10-15 minutes of daily practice over the last five weeks. He has also stopped flipping letters and numbers backwards. I had to sit with him for the first week or so to remind him to trace first and then write. Since then, he has mostly worked on his own, and I check it afterwards.

My six year old first grader has terrible handwriting! I talked to his teacher about how I could work with him on it and she recommended this book.

I was surprised at how expensive it was for a book but was willing to give it a shot. I wasn't sure how a book could change his writing but didn't know what else to do.

The book is full of practical pages, exercises and even fun little games to work with your child. I was surprised my son didn't fight me on it and actually thought it was fun! I was worried it would be a fight since he already had homework to do and this was extra.

Basically he learned how to write incorrectly and would start at the bottom of the line and kind of go backwards, making his writing really sloppy. It wasn't an easy thing to re-train and we still work on it daily but I do think this book has helped tremendously. It gave me key phrases to use and a fun way to work with him.

I do still think it's over-priced and that's the only reason it isn't getting five stars but do I think it's worth it? Yes.

My son had the fortune to use this handwriting curriculum in Kindergarten. He has problems with fine motor skills, and the occupational therapist with his school recommended this program. It is a fantastic program for kids of all needs and ages. It is easy to understand and remember.
Our local school district has now adopted this as their handwriting curriculum, so it's not just for occupational therapists to use anymore!
We recently started homeschooling and the first thing I bought was Handwriting Without Tears!

I really love this series for handwriting. My 6 yo daughter is using this book in 1st grade and used the book that comes before it Kindergarten. She has really benefitted from the books. I find that this book gives just enough practice without overwhelming or boring the student. The book outlines the correct way to form each letter. This works out great for my daughter as she does not prefer direct instruction from me in this subject. The results we are getting are great. She started 1st grade mostly writing in capital letters only. She has now progressed to where she is more comfortable with forming small letters and does so more frequently in her other subjects. I wish I had known about this with my older child. It is great for remediation if your child had not been so successful with other programs. My older child used the previous book to learn print last summer (he learned cursive first). He has already asked me to get him this book this summer and I intend to do so. I highly recommend this book with no reservations. It is great for many age/skill levels.

This book has been great for teaching my son to print. The instructions are short and clear. Each lesson takes about ten minutes to complete if you include the coloring.

My 6 year old daughter is not a workbook kind of kid, but she likes this book. She is seeing improvement in her writing skills and is very proud of herself and of how well she is doing. It is very easy to implement and teach. It includes numbers as well as the capitals and lower case letters. I am very pleased with this book. We will continue with the Handwriting Without Tears series.
