Book Description

In 1973 "crazy" Holly unexpectedly falls in love with Trevor, a roadie for a famous English rock band. From the moment they meet, dreams of marriage, children, and a normal life are suddenly - finally - within Holly's grasp.

Trevor takes her with him on tour and introduces her to the very "un-normal" backstage world of Rock and Roll. When she steps onto the band bus, she walks into a colorful, exciting adventure in a world completely different from the life that awaits her back home, where she chases cockroaches with a shoe, works at a low-paying job, and sleeps to escape the hunger.

Unfortunately, Holly has a secret. Plagued by panic attacks, periodic rages, and depression, she needs to learn why her mentally ill mother committed suicide, long ago, so she can save herself. Thus far, she has found no answers. She must conceal her symptoms from Trevor in order to keep him, but as their relationship becomes progressively more serious, her illness becomes increasingly more difficult to hide.

Can Holly keep the crazy at bay for long enough to let her dreams come true?

HANG ON won the silver medal in the Living Now Book Awards under its original title, ALL TORC D UP. It was also chosen by Red Adept Reviews as a "Red Adept Select" title, voted "outstanding in its genre."

Caution: Some strong language.

Nell Gavin is also the author of THREADS: THE REINCARNATION OF ANNE BOLEYN.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hang On--A Story of Love, Hope and Rock'n'Roll June 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Ever since reading Threads, I've been waiting for Nell Gavin's next novel. And boy, she delivered in a big way! Again, Gavin transforms her readers. Warning. Hang On will grab your heart right out of the gate and it will break it before it uplifts it and then sends it to the quirky, backstage world of rock'n'roll, 70's style.

Holly Salvino does without--without parents, friends, approval, love, and at times, even food. She's a bit off center. Men want to use her and women exclude her. Holly's just too beautiful. She's too smart. Nobody gets her.

The isolation is crushing but it does not defeat her. Something is wrong with her and she must figure it out. Nobody knows about her internal commotion. That is her secret.

Trevor the roadie for a famous rock band, enters her life, turns up the volume and shatters her loneliness. Finally she connects. She realizes all that she's missed. But the timing is off...

For the first time, I found myself not wanting the heroine to do the right thing. I wanted Holly to trash her code of integrity. I wanted her out of her dismal apartment and her bleak job. But love forces tough choices and life goes on for those who Hang On. This book will not leave me. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hang On by Nell Gavin January 19, 2012
Format:Paperback
Nell Gavin has an amazing way of pulling you straight into the hearts and minds of the characters of her books. "Hang On" is no exception. From the very beginning, I was drawn into Holly's emotions, needs, and desires and loved reading about her trials and adventures on her way to finding her true self. I highly recommend this book. Nell Gavin writes a great story! It's a book you don't want to put down!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Book Discription Does Not Do the Book Justice December 30, 2011
Format:Paperback
Hang On is both an enjoyable read and very thought provoking. Just as with Threads: The Reincarnation of Anne Boleyn, the story can be read on several levels. In other words, it not just a rock n roll story, though that is the background, and its not just a love story. What we are presented with is the main character's stream of consciousness. What we read are the many thoughts in her head. In reading it I often found myself contemplating my own thoughts and past making it a thought provoking novel as well as good entertainment.
