5.0 out of 5 stars Roger can really play!!!, November 24, 2001
First, a disclaimer...Roger is my cousin, so I am definitely biased. Nevertheless, I truely loved this CD. As Chet Baker once said when I visited with him and Roger between sets at a NYC jazz club years ago, "Roger can really play!!".Roger takes advantage of his first featured album to show off his virtuoso skills on both baritone and soprano sax and even bass clarinet. My favorite track is Roger's smooth and mellow rendition of "Autumn in New York". I couldn't help but think of the tragic events of 9/11 when listening to Vernon Duke's classic and beautiful tribute to NYC. My second favorite track is Roger's composition, "Just One of the Cats", a bouncy tune with a melody that keeps jumping back into my head. On "Trane's Dance", another new Rosenberg composition, Roger's soprano sax playing definitely brought me back to Coltrane's sound. I also greatly enjoyed Roger's melodius and sometimes whimsical renditions of "That Old Devil Moon" and "Killer Joe". I hope you enjoy this album as much as I did!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster Monster Monster, July 27, 2006
By John Chapin (Jackson Heights, NY USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
No, Roger is _not_ my cousin.
I play all the saxes, and this guy's a real monster bari player. He's taken the big horn to a whole new level. I am rarely so impressed with jazz recorded since, well, about 1965 or so, but Roger's record blows me away (recorded in 2000). The rhythm section is does a great job of supporting him, and the album is a nice collection of originals and a few standards. Bopper plus extra mas mucho, baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Member of the Royal Family, March 16, 2009
Roger, IS my brother and was one of the featured " Vocalist" in my band, Jerry Jemmott & Souler Energy during the late 70's early 80's. Much success, Roger.
