3.0 out of 5 stars For die-hard Megadeth fans only, August 29, 2009
This review is from: Hangar 18 / Conjuring / Hook in Mouth (Audio CD)
Hangar 18 was the first single released by Megadeth to promote their 1990 album Rust in Peace.

The disc features four songs. The first is an "AOR Edit" of the song "Hangar 18". I can't imagine anything more absurd than an thrash metal song somehow edited to be more appealing to radio stations that usually play Journey and Foreigner, but that's exactly what this bastardized 3-minute version of "Hangar 18" is. The second song is the album version of "Hangar 18" in all its 5-minute glory. It's perfect for washing the taste of that AOR edit out of your mouth...er, ears. The single is rounded out by a pair of live songs - "The Conjuring" (from Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?) and "Hook in Mouth" (So Far, So Good...So What!) that were recorded live at London's Wembley Stadium in 1990.

The live tracks are interesting enough, I suppose, but these CD singles really need a good studio b-side or two to make them worthwhile. Unless you're a die-hard Megadeth fan, you probably won't get much out of Hangar 18.
