Not their first "full circle" album,
This review is from: Hangar 18 (Audio CD)
From 1992 through 2001 Megadeth gradually descended into the mainstream rock genre. Don't get me wrong. I think those albums were good musically. But the amazon description "Endgame" is that this is when Megadeth "comes face to face with what made them great to begin with". I totally disagree with that.
If you're an oldschool Megadeth fan and wanna hear the new rampage, start with "The System has Failed", released in 2004.System Has Failed This album was the first Thrash/speed album they made in 14 years (arguably). This album even had Chris Poland at lead guitar! Although I like the subject matter lyrically better on "United Abominations" and "Endgame", in my opinion, "The System has Failed" is the best album musically of their newer efforts. Overall Megadeth has never stopped being a baddass group. If they come to your town I definitely recommend going to the show. There is nothing like seeing a wall of Marshall stacks all across the stage when Megadeth gets on stage. |
