I recomend this single to anyone who is a Counting Crows fan. Baby, I'm a Big star, which was on the rounders soundtrack and a live unreleased omaha are included.

It seems weird to me that so many people bought this (or claimed to) expecting it to blow them away because it was expensive. It is an IMPORT!! That means it is going to cost more. It is rare. The band didn't even play Omaha live after the August tour for years, and I hadn't heard it live until this May--except on this CD. Baby I'm a Big Star Now should have been on TDL, but it wasn't, and the only reason that it got released on this single is so that people would start circulating that version on the file-sharing programs, because the available version was horrid quality-wise, and there wasn't anything better to stick on a 2nd single. It's a great song, however, and this recording actually does it justice. All imports are [expensive], anyway

This is a quality import by the best band ever. Omaha is great live, but the unreleased material is the kicker.
If you like Counting Crows, and you want NEW music, then get this import.

The Counting Crows have never been known for putting out new songs as B-Sides to their singles, but this one is obviously an exception. Baby, I'm A Big Star Now is indeed a brand new non-album track, and it is actually quite good. If you found yourself disappointed by the lack of upbeat material on This Desert Life, this is the exact song for you... and if you're a fan, you will not be disappointed. The live version of Omaha, however, is nothing to write home about, just a nice little live song that was previously available on August And Everything After, and thus makes this single less attractive to me. In the end, you should get this single only if you already own and love This Desert Life (and if you don't own it yet, I highly advise that you pick it up). If you're looking for great live songs, however, you'll probably do better with Hanginaround pt.1

Where's the new music? (Pig in a Poke, pt 2),
This review is from: Hangin Around (Part 2) (Audio CD)
Like Hanging Around Pt 1 (IMPORT), Pt.2 asks a lot of CountingCrows fans-- namely fork over [the money] for a CD that contains only three tracks, and only one of them is previously unavailable. You get all of three tracks--the title song, "Baby I'm a Big Star," and "Omaha."Are these great songs, you go around hummmin' (like Mr. Jones, Einstein on the Beach, etc.) or filler? Well, let's put it this way-- can you recite the lyrics or melodies to any of them? If you can, and you want yet another version, step right up. But if you want something new, different, exciting-- even if it reminds you a great deal of stuff you've heard before BUT even better-- then look elsewhere. This is more than a sophomore slump-- this is recycling stuff you've done before and attempting to pass it off as deserving. Call this (and Import #1) "Outtakes and C Sides for the True Fanatics" and it would be okay. To sell it for this price-- well, as they used to say on American Bandstand, "The lyrics were so-so, and the music didn't knock me out. The kids looked like they were going through the motions. I'd give it a 75." Maybe next time the Crows will try to be Big Stars.

If you gotta have everything ever recorded by the Crows, andyou don't mind paying bucks for three songs, none not available elsewhere, then buddy, they saw you coming a mile away. But nothing here equals August & Everything or the hard to find Einstein on the Beach. Downhill since stardom? Some call it essential, others call it a ripoff. Maybe if it were packaged WITH #2, it might be worth it. But it's a yawner.

Dont waste the money purchasing this import cd with three tracks! You can download very good quality live tracks from the Counting Crows website - entire concerts for 10.00, yes, with Omaha! Be smart. Baby I'm a Big Star Now, was just added to the Import Saturday Nites and Sunday Mornings so if you really want the track, wait and look for the song to be more readily available (and cheaper)in the near future - in fact, you can download just the track from amazon uk.
