The Texas Torenados are a super group, no doubt, and the essence of

conjunto tex-mex music. Most of their CD's deserve and have been given'

5 stars by me but this one is less attractive excluding the two solo

songs by Freddy Fender "Tus Mentiras" and "Trying" which are great great

great recordings and are worth the purchase of this CD. This guy was such

a wonderful artist both in English and Spanish that still today I keep

on purchasing all that's still coming out on the market both on CD and

DVD.

This CD contains more great music, from the legendary Tex-Mex, Super Group, the Texas Tornados. You get the legendary, original, line-up of the late/great Doug Sahm, the late/great Freddy Fender, Augie Meyers & Flaco Jimenez, plus you get Doug's son Shawn Sahm, and serveral other musicians, performing as studio, recording session musicians on this album, giving it a rich & deep sound. You get some songs in English, with Doug Sahm or Freddy Fender on lead vocals, and some in Spanish, with Freddy Fender on lead vocals. Plus track #7 is sung in English & Spanish by Augie Meyers. Also, on track #8, you get a song about Jamacia, with a little bit of reggae to it. I really love the song "Guacamole", ("We made "Guacamole" all night long"), sung by Doug. I also like every song on this album. The liner notes give an English translation, of some of the Spanish Words Used. I'm glad they finally re-formed in 2010 with Doug's son Shawn Sahm, along with Augie Meyers & Flaco Jimenez included in the new line-up, along with some other new members. Thanks!!!

P.S. If you ever get by the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas, they have an exhibit of this original line-up of the Texas Tornados.

For us Doug Sahm fans, a record like this makes it seem like he is still among the living. The other performers are appreciated too. so I like the whole thing.

its good music to listen too and dance, which I hav'nt done in awhile. I have listened to Feddy Fender along time ago and with this group I think there great. I have listen to other latin music, but I guess I'm the old fashion type, I grew up listening to my parents music, like the old country western as well. I like that better than the new groups. Besides I like all types of music.
